Hi everyone, joined the forum as a proxy for my father who just purchased a '22 Lariat with 501A. This is his 5th F-150, traded in his '18 KR for it. His truck was one of the unfortunate few that had Nav/Sirius deleted due to chip shortage. He's old school and doesn't like his phone to sync up with the radio, so he is very resistant to carplay. Nav is something that he actually uses quite a bit, and he prefers the built in system.

I've searched the forums and have an idea of how to do this with a new APIM (from here: https://infotainment.com/shop/servi...ford-f-150-sync-4-gps-navigation-upgrade-kit/) however it does involve taking apart the dash and changing settings in Forscan. He's planning on reaching out to the people at infotainment as well, but seeing as he's in Houston, I wanted to ask if anyone in the area has experience doing the install or using Forscan to activate?

Please reach out to me (if the forums allow DM for a new user). Thank you!

Thanks! I sent him a message just now. I figured Houston is such a large market for F-150's, there has to be someone with experience installing these modules there.

If you’re in Texas reaching out to Jesse is your best bet. As always, I recommend calling up salvage yards in Saskatchewan Canada. It’s one of the few places in North America where the government directly owns and operates insurance and salvage yards. They force themselves to keep prices ultra low. It’s where I consistently find the cheapest replacement parts but you have to do some manual digging and negotiate to find the best deals. An APIM from up North will only cost a few hundred at most. Canada and USA nav units have the same files. ForScan changes are needed either way.

what you are doing is a lot of work, but possible and done by others on here.

@Drdannyccmc You might also want to try reaching out to user TexasFording on the other F150 Forums here:

Sell it and buy a truck that better fits his desires perhaps? I would at least consider that to performing expensive warranty voiding modifications. ?‍♂

edit* I'm close to 58 and wireless Carplay is awesome! I wouldn't use the wired version because I don't like taking my phone out and getting the little plug to go in etc., but with wireless I don't have to anything but get in and start up the truck. My phone stays in my pocket and I the big screen is great for older eyes.

Ha, if only it was that easy! His Lariat is the ONLY one in the area (300+ miles) that had the light tan leather interior with black exterior, and FX4 pack, which is what he wanted. He didn't want to step into another KR truck and didn't want to wait another 6+ months to order a new one with that spec. He didn't even know the nav was deleted until he brought it home and started messing around with the infotainment system.

Just to come full circle, I reached out to Jesse at infotainment and he was able to help with adding back in Nav and Sirius. If anyone is near the DFW area, I’d definitely reach out to him. Father is super happy, truck is how it’s supposed to be from the factory. Thanks again @Jesse-Infotainment !
