22' F150 tailgate intermittently does not open from key fob

Did anyone ever get this resolved? My '21 has been doing this for a few months now and it's become really annoying. It's just the fob double click like the OP for me and everything else works fine. Mine won't release the majority of the time and I'd say it doesn't 80% of the time whereas up until about this past July it worked 100%. I have no idea what changed because the bed cover and everything else back there is the same as it was on day 1.

Symptoms are the ambers flash twice when I double click the fob release button and no beeps or anything. It opens right up when I push the tailgate button on the tailgate or in the truck so wiring does not seem to be an issue. When the fob methid does work it's the same as it always was, ambers flash and it beeps like 3 times to warn anyone near it. I can also put the tailgate back up by double clicking the fob. That works every time along with the knee lift method.

Just got my 21 Lariat at the end of May and having the same issues. It only seems to work if a door is opened. Afterwards, I can lock the entire truck and the tailgate will open and close. But after a period of time, that process stops working.

I have a list of things I need the dealer to look at, I’ll be adding this to the list.

Nope. My lease just ended and I no longer have the truck so it’s someone else’s problem now. It continued to behave like this until the end.

I have a 2022 F150 Lariat FX4 and it has the power tailgate that opens and closes from the key fob. Ever since I took delivery of it in February the tailgate will intermittently not work from the key fob. It seems like it usually happens after you drive the car for 15 minutes or so, park it , lock it and go shopping. Then when you come out to your truck and try to release the tailgate from the key fob, the lights on the truck flash but the tailgate does not open (no sounds made at all). I’ve tried this with both key fobs and I still have the same result. I’ve also tried unlocking the truck with the key fob before I tried to open the tailgate and that didn’t work either. The only thing that seems to make it work is if you remote start the truck first from the fob or you physically open the door on the vehicle first then release the tail gate from the fob. I am 6 trips to the dealer in and they have had the truck for like 17 days in total and still no solution to fix the issue.

Exact same problem here, and same sentiment. The dealers are generally useless with these kinds of things, so I have just been living with it. Kind of annoying, but not as bas as having the dealer try to fiddle with something they have no idea about.

Well after 18 trips trips to the dealer, even after I had 3 dealers tell me the BCM is the problem (they could see that the BCM lost connections hundreds of times with the truck) but ford would not approve the repair. I finally hired an attorney and sendup getting a $15k settlement from Ford, but they still wouldn't fix the truck....... I need up having to just dump the truck. Needless to say I leaned that Ford doesn't care about sanding behind a $80,000 truck and Ill never be a customer of theirs again!!

You have been asking for the same thing to others on this forum with the same issue, but not once have you given a answer or fix to the issue that seems to be the same thing across the board and yet, again, you want me to give you the same stuff that others have given you. You know it's a bunch of BS. I'm new to this forum and yet the ones before me, who have been going through this for years and even have to hire an attorney fo get this resolved. Please, don't waste our times. If you had a fix, then post it, but then again, if someone had to hire an attorney, then there is not fix.

I am having the same issue with my 21 powerboost. There's nothing more frustrating then coming out of Lowe's with a load of lumber and the tailgate don't work the way it should.

21 Lariat Super crew with the same thing. Its a crap shoot as to when it will work or not. Sometimes it works from the remote, sometimes when i push the tailgate button on the tailgate it just beeps 3 times not matter if truck is lock/unlocked etc. No rhyme or reason to when it does it. May go a week of working fine then all of a sudden it will act up for a couple of days. Its done it well over a year now.

My '21 is the same. Very random and annoying. I never even wanted the power tailgate, but had to take it to get the tailgate step on the Lariat. This kind of stuff is exactly why I didn't want it.
