21-23 Wirless CarPlay Glitches

Hey everyone,

MIs anyone finding wireless CarPlay unusable in certain areas? On the Highway my 22 Lariat is flawless, but certain places in towns it will cut in and out, eventually crashing out of CarPlay and reconnecting again.

This is my first vehicle with wirless carplay. Maybe this is common with wireless CarPlay across makes? Does anyone else have this problem? I’m on 3.5.2 right now. Maybe this has been resolved in the newer updates?
Wanted to see if anyone else has this issue still.

This happens to me at a certain stoplight on my way home from work. No clue what is going on in that 150ft stretch that would cause so much interference.

With the recent string of updates, many people have reported issue with wireless carplay/android auto. It is happening to my truck, too. Since then, I have only been running android auto with the cable. I recommend you guys do the same.

I haven't received an OTA update ever, so I don't think that's affecting me. I have switched to wired carplay though...

Yes same issue ever since I got the truck new. Happens in same spot all the time in town. Never use it because of this because it’s near my office.

I had an issue like that in my ‘08 with my aftermarket head unit.
It’s not as common anymore for me but occasionally the android auto will kick itself off and I sometimes have to reselect the AA option.

My CarPlay glitches/disconnects only at certain locations. Must be some sort of wireless interference. I believe the connection is WiFi and not Bluetooth. Wish I knew what it was. Can't find a common theme in the 12+ locations it cuts out. Cell tower, power plant, high voltage lines, etc. I'm totally up to date and nothing has changed that issue since I took delivery of the job 1 '21.

In my ‘21, I always had issues when driving into a local town, but nowhere else. I also had issues with the system in general that would never be fixed besides that as well (80’s TV fuzzy screen then blackout, non-reactive to touch or button input). In my ‘23 there was about a 2 mile stretch of hwy that the music and GPS with CarPlay would skip and sometimes even cutout completely, but would turn back on after that stretch. No other issues besides that really.

Wireless CarPlay in my experience isn’t worth the hassle. Wireless, as always, is an expensive venture to a lower quality experience in exchange for a slightly more convenient one than cheap wired.

Mine would do this all the time before I fixed my OTA issues and manually updated everything in the truck late last year. I just received all the 4.X updates OTA and have not driven enough to see if wireless CarPlay is dropping out again.
