Flickering sounds more like a poor connection somewhere? Are you seeing flickering from the foglight or the DRL or both?Does anyone who have added the drl lights notice that the fog lightss at times flicker on and off on either side at times ?

Do you normally run your foglights on at night? Could be that the cornering lights are turning on and off, which is just If the foglight switch is turned off then the foglight of the direction you're turning turns on.. other than that youd most likely see an issue with the drl at the same time. Mines been working perfectly from what I can tell...I keep a real close eye on mine since it was a DIY special.Sorry for the late reply, the fog light on either side will blink on and off. No issues with the DRL
Thats working as intended. You can disable it by turning "cornering lights" off in the settingsok thx
i just notice early in the morning when it is still dark that when i come to work i can see off the reflection of a window that they come on and off individually as make a right turn. Maybe that is what it is. Ill keep any eye out next time. I have my lights on automatic with the fog lights turned off
From what I could tell they didn't look the black housing ones if that makes a difference to you. Honestly anymore it really is you get what you pay for, they'll probably work good for a while, maybe a year or two, but id expect to replace them after a while...they may look identical but the quality of parts used are not as good. The lights were $500 for the set when I bought mine. Id look on ebay for a slightly used oem set before I bought one off aliexpress. Used set off ebay would probably be cheaper anyways. I haven't bought autoparts from aliexpress but I've gotten a bunch of other stuff including electrical parts and the quality is definitely noticeable.Has anyone tried the fog lights from
AliExpress? They are $350 Canadian shipped for the pair.
Just curious how they compare to the authentic oem ones. I’m assuming they’re identical
Are the oem ones black? I looked online and the looked silver, but haven’t looked at a platinum up closeFrom what I could tell they didn't look the black housing ones if that makes a difference to you. It was just bad lighting in the picture i seen, Its identical. I thought some 24 lariats without the black apperance package had chrome in the foglight besides the reflector portion but it seems like they all look the same... id still try to stick with oem but i also understand the value in saving costs when you can.Are the oem ones black? I finally got around to installing the new fogs yesterday (purchased them back in June!). Big shout out to Wfar1512 and all the info he provided in this post. I made my own harnesses to help save some money. For anyone thats wanting to add the DRL fog lights back in. I'll show you what I have done to semi make my own harness. I ordered 2 of the starkey headlight adapters linked below. They come already pre wired and have 4 wires that branch off(turn signal, DRL, ground, and parking). I'll probably leave mine with the plug but if I were to do it again I'd probably just order the pins and eliminate the plug. You may also be able to contact starkey and ask if they'll just do the 2 wires you need to tap... I've provided some screen shots of what some possibilities are to make the harness. You could potentially do this for as little as $75 but it'll take some time to do. All in im at about $130 which is about the simplest way to do it without just ordering it from CSS.
What you'll need is...
- starkey headlight adapter x2
- 18 gauge stranded wire
- butt connectors with solder
- 4 pin foglight connect x2
- H11 male foglight pigtail x2
- electrical tape or something to wrap the wires
I did have to modify the starkey adapter and move one of the tapped wires. I disassembled the connector and swapped the red wire labeled park to pin 8(this is a constant 12v). After that you should now have the two wires you'll need for the foglight connector, pin 3(DRL circuit) and pin 8(12v constant). I used waterproof heat shrink on the other 2 wires to cap them off incase I needed later(these aren't used)
Now you can run the two wires(i used about 1.5 - 2ft of wire) from the headlight connector to the fog light connector.
Pin 8 from the headlight plug should go to pin 1 on the foglight.
Pin 3 on the headlight plug should go to pin 3 on the foglight connector.
The remaining wires will come from your oem fog light harness. I bought the h11 pigtail from Amazon(hoping it will work, not sure yet) and used butt connectors to connect the wires to the new 4 pin foglight plug. Pin 4 on the new plug should be ground from your oem harness and pin 2 on the new plug should be the 12v switch from your oem harness.
Hopefully that makes some sense and is able to help someone out. I'll definitely try answer any questions that come up

Really only two issues I ran into. The first step of getting the lower valance off required a lot of force for all the damn clips, especially the ones that are never meant to come out(they tend to bend and break). The other issues was a poor connection on the H8 connector to the original fog light connector. The H8 I got was cheap and needed a little adjustment to make good contact.
Start to finish was closer to 4 hours with those two issues and the additional time of the illuminated emblem install. Other than that, thanks to everyone on this thread that provided info!
