Hello everyone!

I've got my Mongoose arriving tomorrow, and therefore a bunch of questions:

1) Is BC 1.4 available for '24 yet or am I SOL?
2) If I have some minor forscan tweaks (bimbo, beeps, etc.), do I need to disable those before running FDRS SW Updates?
3) If there is no BC 1.4 for my truck yet... is it worth performing all other upgrades? Someone on yt warned that it's unlike operating systems and those should not be applied unless required.

PS: I'm already in touch with Mr. @rugedraw Asking generic questions here not to waste his time with RTFM stuff

I ran about 15 or so updates a week or so ago on my 24 PB.
1. I swear my AC is colder or at least cools the truck down faster.
2. Seems to be getting better MPG. Low 20’s.
3. Google Maps through CarPlay turn by turn pops up on the cluster and the heads up. 100% was not there before the updates.
4. Was having an issue with the window bounce back before the updates. Pretty sure that issue was fixed by the manual reset using the up/down window button, but I’m almost positive it’s fixed now with the DPM update.

Overall was easy. @rugedraw is the man with helping out.

Same model and just finished with the upgrades, all went smooth except for Gear Shift Module (GSM), which errors out instantly at the very beginning - tried it a few times and no luck.

You can try to PMI the GSM and when FDRS asks if it is the original module, select no. It may fail too, but it won't hurt to try way.

Sorry for a noob question, but what do you mean by "PMI the GSM"?

UPDATE: Ignore my question. I tried the update one more time but this time with a shifter in a regular position (before I had it folded to use the workspace for my laptop) and it worked without any problems.

So now everything is updated, yay! The only thing that's orange is 1 DTC under TCU:

TCU / FD2 / U211B / 51 / 0B - Control Module Message Authentication / Not Programmed

I need to find out what that is about.

UPDATE 2: According to this (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/attachments/52730-pdf.147319/) it should be safe to ignore it?

As to this specific feature, I noticed that a few days ago (BEFORE upgrades). Maybe it was the app itself or ios that enabled it?

Click the GWM in the FDRS toolbox and look for a procedure to fix TRON authorization and run that. If it does it too quickly, run it again until that TCU code clears.

Just so I’m clear, IS BC1.4 now available for 2024 models if I use FDRS?

Were you able to update TCU?
That is the one module I could not get updated. Followed direction on TRON auth to get it green but when trying to run the update it would just sit there trying to communicate to the TCU module.

Yes, I was able to upgrade everything. As far as I remember, when I did the TCU, the whole car freaked out and dropped every possible error at me, with most modules turning orange in FDRS. Had to clean cache / restart car and then it went down to that 1 DTC I posted about - which is gone after the GWM/TRON procedure.

I don't think so :(

There was one module related to cameras that took forever to program (1hr+, the only one showing % for block erase rather than their count), but I don't think it enabled 1.4 yet.

If only there was a way to tell which version of BC is currently in use...

There is. In FDRS, click the IPMA and scroll down to where it shows all the module details. You want to look for the name of the file in the F188 locations. If it does not end in BBC, then you do not have BC 1.4. When you did the FDRS updates, did you have to update the IPMA (it would have taken almost 3 hours)?
