I'm curious what you think is so bad about that? Were you expecting LED's and fog lights?

I see a lot less dimpled black plastic on the truck than previous generations, lots of actual painted body parts, vs previous generations, and the grille isn't half bad.

XL's a work truck, i'm sure you can spiff it up with STX too. My last XL was a 2005 and it was a lot of black plastic and grey bumpers vs the XLT and higher... but it did what I needed it to do. Truck had manual roll up windows and door locks, which I bet isn't even possible anymore.

But the truck was also $16,500 out the door... you can't get a beater 15 year old truck for that right now

Not expecting LEDs, but the plastic trim extending around the headlamps makes it look cheap. Current XLs look accessorized, but not down-market.

Don't know what an SME is, but turbopilot is far more knowledgeable of these kinds of things that I am.

But I do think the phrase "bigger battery" is a huge oversimplification of the way the Powerboost Hybrid Battery is packaged. The enclosure is far more than the battery itself. A very sophisticated assembly of various components that are tightly integrated within that enclosure. Including water coolant routing passages.

While the truck itself probably does have room/space for Ford to have gone with a larger "package", had they desired to, I don't think it's feasible to retrofit a larger battery, or an additional battery.

friend of mine sent me this one. Not sure where he got it from. Looks like a BAP to me. Shame.. looks like the Tremor hood might be excluded.

No more Tremor hood with the Lariat BAP, such a shame. So far I think I like the base trim Tremor more.

That's one of the things knocking it for me. Makes no sense from my perspective to make an econo unibody truckUV and then use that as the inspiration for the money making lines. None of the grilles shown as of yet look good. Just looks like low effort cheap plastic castings.

That black surround plastic is literally awful on the XL and XLT. You half wonder if Ford tasked the design team with cheapening up the XL. Cheapening up the front end and adding more ugly plastic helps differentiate the lines and will push buyers to spend the extra money to avoid the ugly front fascia. Might actually be genius.

Yeah i think i'm going to be hanging onto my 2021 for awhile, i did a similar thing with my mustang bought the 2014 version since i didnt like the 2015 that was coming out. Got a smokin' deal on it too back in the day as a lot-straggler.

Sadly traded the mustang for the F-150, i have to say i dont regret that decision one bit since i went from V6 to V8

Don't think it looks that bad. Maybe you didn't notice the "cheap black plastic around the headlights" of the 80-86, 92-96, 97-03 models?

Black or grey for XL, chrome for XLT, chrome or painted to match in Lariat's depending on year.

With the different model headlight, looks like they felt they had to do something there.
