2024 F-150 Loud Ticking

It definitely does not sound normal.
My 5.0, when at cold high idle, sounds like a diesel. Otherwise it sounds fine. I've found premium fuel helps to reduce the "noisiness" of the engine.
The noise yours makes is highly abnormal and magnitudes louder than a normal 5.0 "noise".

I've been putting premium in there but it did not seem to help.

That’s pretty loud. Definitely sounds like the motor. The best oil for the 5.0 is 5w-40. I’ve been running this since almost new. The 5.0 rated up to 5w-50. Remember, heavy loads, high heat, and hard driving you benefit from slightly thicker hot viscosity.

The video was also taken on a incline right? I mean its not like that should matter at all but it might in this case. I would go talk to a salesman and ask for the keys to new 5.0 on the lot. Does it sound the same?

My wife has a buick encore that is louder than that when cold. Even when warmed up it sounds not great. She wants to buy it, and it has been a fairly good car, but I will definitely be doing some contrast/compare to other vehicles before she does that.

Stop, you are getting horrible advice here. This is not oil related. You have a faulty A/C clutch or loose heat shield. Run the manufacturer recommended 5W-30. If this was oil related you’d have way bigger problems all ready with that sound.

You have no clue what you are talking about. The 5.0 is rated up to 5w-50. If you think running a thicker oil is bad you are clueless. When towing and putting a heavy load on your engine it is STANDARD practice to run thicker viscosity to protect the engine. Anyone who thinks an engine is designed for one specific oil grade is clueless. In fact, if you put a supercharger on the 5.0 Ford says you would switch to 5w-50! Whether his noise is oil related or not, it is absolutely still beneficial to run thicker oil when putting a heavy load on the engine. 5w-30 is the minimum oil viscosity allowed in the engine. The minimum!

Very good article regarding oil viscosity, why thin oil is “recommended” by most manufacturers in the US, and why Ford stopped using 5w-20 in the f150, if anyone is interested. They actually had a huge oil consumption issue with this.
