Looks like the truck committed suicide to get away from its owner... The owner didn't do anything except open the door to get more airflow.... IMO....

Would be interesting to know if this fire was lithium battery related . . . my first thought was I wonder if the truck at a PowerBoost in it?
That's an STX.

PB's battery is under it, not inside of the cab. Here's where it's hiding, midpoint of bed and cab

I would say it started in the steering column based on the signal lights then the horn, then lights (partial high beam?). Not much effort put into extinguishing though ?

HA! Here let me open the door and leave it open to help that fire spread more before anyone gets here.
At that point it was better to let it be totaled. A fire inside = full on replacement of everything. Carpet seats plastics etc... Probably $15k of parts, untold labor, and the downtime of months? Just let it total out. Plus if insurance plays games trying to not replace parts then it's the burnt plastic smelling truck. Catching a fire when you're in the vehicle is one thing vs waiting until harnesses and stuff have melted and the horn is honking is too late.

yup that smell never goes away, no to mention the stuff that might have got melted they never find until later as it grounds out on the metal frame structure.
it sure did haze the windshield fast as well

Looks like the guy just replaced his furnace, kind of a weird thing to leave sitting in the yard. Bet his insurance company is glad the house is brick.

That’s about how I’d react in the situation.

Since it's not a PB, then I'm inclined to agree with those who suggested it may have been intentionally started. While watching, you can't help but wonder why on earth the owner would vent the fire by opening and leaving open the doors. I did give props to the windshield wipers and their final death swipe on a missing windshield.

Looks like there was a bit of customizing done to the truck. It's possible things were not used correctly or rubbed through.

If the fire was intentional why would the owner have video AND allow it to go public? Doesn't make sense.
