I’m most likely going to take it in when I’m back from vacation but I just bought this used 2022 from a local dealer and when I was finally able to see and spend time under the hood, it looks like a topside leak of some sort. Any similar incidences?

That looks like a 2.7 as the filter housing is right there. Did they let it drip all over when they pulled the filter?

That was my first thought. Being on vacation hasn’t allowed for time to properly clean it to see if it returns but I’ll find some time to do that this week too.

Yeah, a proper clean and see where the oil starts to form again would be step 1 for a leak like that.

My first though was that it looks like a rocker arm gasket leak that's getting hit by the fan blast, making it creep rearwards, but that's just speculation.

I own a 5.0, so I have no idea what I’m looking at. A pro tip is to take a wide shot of the area with landmarks visible like your fenders, hood, wheels, driveshaft, etc… along with some good well lit, in focus pictures of the detailed areas and to send/upload them in the same orientation that you would normally see them. Another cool feature of cell phones, is you can fit them into spaces that you normally don’t see, like above a fuel tank or behind a radiator or hose.

Anyway, you took good in focus pictures and I rotated them, so hopefully it’s the right orientation.

The plastic looks broken here and if I had to guess, the leak is coming from the sensor/fitting from improper handling. The dealer should know what warranty work was done and I’m guessing that either they tried to fix the leak, or it was a bad sensor that was replaced and now the new one is leaking because a ham fisted technician was on the job.

The plastic on this side is intact.

It looks like there’s possibly another leak between the plastic and the metal. Also, the nut/stud don’t look like they’ve seen a wrench or socket. So if that’s another leak, it’s probably unrelated to the main one up top.

Just some guessing! Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Follow up : I believe it was just oil from the most recent change. I detailed the engine bay, and the "leak" has not returned. Thank you all for the input.

I believe that was it. Thank you for that. Not used to that type of filter housing.
