Hey everyone, I have my 22 F150 PB with the max tow package 3.73 making a scraping/grinding noise while braking at lower speeds. Took it to the dealer and supposedly they drove it around and inspected all the braking components etc. and found nothing and said that it isn’t making any sounds ??‍♂. That was around 8500 miles and the sound was intermittent at times. Today I’m at around 12500 miles and the sound is getting worse and louder. When I drive at lower speeds in parking lots people look over at me occasionally when it’s making that grinding noise, super embarrassing, makes me rethink spending $80K on a Ford. My last f150 was great and my other 2 vehicles are Fords as well. The noise happens in electric mode and when the engine is on, doesn’t matter. I’m not not sure if this has to do with the regenerative braking who knows. I’ve also seen the forums recently on the 3.73 max tow package with the axle issues and has me thinking it might have something to do with that now. Anyways have been contacting the dealer I purchased the vehicle from as well as another local dealer and no calls back for appointments like usual. Any one else experiencing this issue? Seems like I’ve only found 1 or 2 other posts about it and mine seems a lot worse/louder. I attached a video driving around in a parking lot for you guys to watch and listen. Any help is much appreciated!

I'm almost positive its the max tow bolt. I had that same noise. Check your rear passenger side bolt. Pop the center cap off and look. Its really noticeable next to a building or in a parking garage.

What ended up happening with yours? Was the bolt just loose and rubbing in there? Did it cause any other damage? Thanks for the reply

Yes it was broken. Bolt rattling around in there but its the movement that I think that is causing the noise. Its able to move side to side which is why I think you don't hear it all the time. Mine was well worn so no telling how long it was broken.

Had mine fixed last may. Mine was covered under the CSP 22B34 because my vin was in the range. I do think it's now a full recall. I did drive mine for like 2 months even after they looked at it and waiting on parts and a loaner. They did replace both axles on mine.

If you drive slow enough and have someone walk along, you will probably hear the bolt.

They replaced both of your axles? That’s crazy, I’m guessing it causes some sort of damage inside of the axles without that bolt? How long was your truck out of commission? I’m not gunna lie I prob would’ve got rid of it or traded it in asap. Hope that’s not the case here

Good afternoon. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your preferred Ford dealer? I would like to take a closer look at your noise concerns.
