Ford F-150 2021 Job 1 Trucks that aren't getting updates 1681842648882

My APIM was stuck and replaced in January after months of troubleshooting and I've been waiting on the 21G01 bulletin all-stop to be lifted so my dealership could install all the missing updates.

Interestingly, after reading through some of the recent OTA update successes in this thread I decided to call the OTA hotline this morning to ask when I could expect OTAs to come through or see if I had any pending/failures and it turns out one came in yesterday. That's my first OTA update since owning the truck!

Anyone have any experience being this far behind and seeing all the other ones start flowing? I'm hoping to see them start coming in now that one has successfully installed but don't want to get my hopes up.

No other OTA pending in your queue now. It seems like they got you un-stuck from not getting updates. The problem is, Ford does not push out those old updates very often, so it will still be a while before you get everything you are due and will be up to date. No telling how long since Ford seems to send updates out randomly, but you still got ways to go to be up to date.

After the 2.0 update on Monday I got the 2.1.1 update yesterday. Hopefully this means Ford is stepping up on the old update pushes. If I decided to break out my mongoose again and get the FDRS license back, is there any risk of messing up future OTAs?

My concern is that with the 21G01 bulletin stop-order out, and my dealer having just replaced my APIM, if something gets messed up Ford won't do anything to help

Updating with FDRS will not stop you from getting OTA updates. To be honest, you would probably be best suited to go ahead and update everything manually yourself. Then, the cloud will see you are up to date and send you new updates. As for Ford not helping you...You are using software you purchased from Ford. They can't say anything.

I GOT AN UPDATE!

2021 Job 1 XLT truck.

My last updates were in September 2022. Someone told me on here I failed an update in January.

I was getting close to messing with a mongoose cable to try and get things updated.

Steps I followed to try and get the truck to update.

1. set a scheduled download time for each night.

2. Turn off the lights when I park at the house.

I’ve had the schedule set about a week and this was maybe the third time I’ve remembered to turn off the lights.

I’ve got 3.5.3 with Alexa and CarPlay screen resize.

I have noticed a new weird glitch though, and wondering if anyone else can confirm the same.

If you in enable the cam view while driving, if I use the camera that watches the bed, there are no issues… But if I turn on the camera view, that is the reverse camera, looking straight back… It causes the hamburger menu to disappear, and there is no way to change the camera view after that point until you restart the system. You’re basically stuck on that one camera view after that moment.

You can feel the excitement/relief when some of you fellas get an OTA after a 9 month wait.

9 month waits?
I think you should have a cigar ?

Turning off your headlights should have nothing to do with getting the update, unless its draining your battery to the point the update can't complete. Most likely Ford just pushed the update to you at that time.

I did not know there was a OTA HOTLINE. Can you share that number with me?
Thank you.

The number is below, they're not super helpful but they can provide a little information. There were rumors months ago that a few people got updates shortly after calling, but it was probably just coincidence. Interestingly, they also told me when I called on Monday that the fuel level played a role in OTAs and that in addition to the car being off, auto update schedules set, parking brake on, headlights turned off, and doors shut, the fuel level needed to be above 92%. She kept saying something about drivability and how the updates are prioritized to vehicles with those higher indications or something.
I can't see any way that that makes sense, but here I am filling up every other day hoping it somehow does the trick!

Did you hear me laughing. It’s very funny what she told you. I will give them a call next week and listen to what she tells me. It should be interesting phone call. Thank you much for the phone number.
Steve.
