Looking for insight or comparison. I have 2021 5.0 V8 Platiunum. I am running 275/65/20 Toyo A/T II’s. I have a 1” level on the front. I run regular octane fuel. I have been measuring the fuel economy for a while and I am only getting 14.4 city and 17.2 highway over the last couple years. Advertised stock is 17/24. I know I get a small hit from the 275’s but after talking to some friends it seems I am much under the average. I drive very conservatively minimal acceleration and braking. Also my city driving isn’t really even city driving, we are mostly rolling nonstop. Proper inflation verified.

Put it in ECO mode and lock it out in 7th gear max. It’ll spend significantly more time in 4 cylinder mode. You’ll easily get 20+MPGs.
I get about 18 city, 20 highway @70mph. On 55mph back roads, I get 23 all day and I’m on 35s.
The 5.0 is very happy to cruise in 7th at 1600 to 2000 rpms with eco on.

The largest detractors to good fuel mileage are driving style, tire psi, stop/go traffic and warming your truck up before driving it.

I think your biggest issue is the fuel. I run the premium and have no issue getting 17 around town and I drive 'normal' mode... highway averages between 24/25 depending on the load and whether I have the AC on... (oh and I have the 3.73 diff)

With a level, and 34" tall tires, I get around 16 around town, unless running E85. Then get about 13.5

14-16 in town on 91 premium E10. Normal mode, no heavy foot. I've had as good as 24+ on nearly 100% highway at 70 or below.

Truck showed 13.3L/100KM when I got it a couple of months ago. It was down to 12.5L/100KM , then I did a few trips with the trailer and now at 13.8L/100. First three fills since I got the truck were avg about 22.5 MPIG, last fill with the trailer towing was 15.28 MPIG.

Most of my driving is rural highway.

Just put new tires on Yesterday, 285/60R20 and do not plan to tow the trailer for awhile, so will see what the mileage does now

13.4mpg on 295/65R20. 91 Octane. Tire size adjusted using forscan, GPS verified. Stop and go all the way through town, about 14-15 miles in the city daily. My truck unfortunately doesn't see above 45MPH most days. On the weekends it gets to but during the week, nope. Edit: Adding 3.73 gearing.

I just assume there a lot of idling going on and not much coasting to a stop. The stock 2wd CCSB I rented in FL was a solid 25mpg truck. Highway was 27+ and stayed in 4cyl mode very well. That engine is extremely efficient.

The EPA testing is done indoors where there is no air drag operating and so fuel economy numbers are not necessarily going to reflect real world use of the truck. Driving skill to maximize fuel economy is also seldom present with motorists.

There are truckers pulling a set of doubles over a highway route that average 6 mpg which is OK but the fleet operators have other drivers with the same rig running the same route that average 9 mpg. The objective of fleet operators in wanting to adopt self driving trucks is to eliminate the 6 mpg drivers and greatly reduce their fuel costs.

There are drivers with the Honda Fit and the Toyota Prius cars that compete to post the best fuel economy numbers. We owned a 2007 Prius for 14 years and my wife averaged a decent 44 mpg overall. These competitive drivers will get 60 mpg with the same car and it is the result of both their focus and knowledge of ways to maximize fuel economy.

For my part, over the past 30 years I have had one pickup or large SUV and a second much more fuel efficient vehicle. If one gets 15-18 mpg and the other gets 44 mpg and I use the more fuel efficient vehicle for most trips where there is no need for larger capacity vehicle I buy less gas and use cheaper tires and pay less for overall maintenance.

My 2021 f150 4x4 screw with 20" wheels and 3.73 rearend with 60k miles has an all time mpg of 19.5. Im 100% stock. Drive in normal mode and I do not tow. I travel with cruise set at 73mph. My week to week is about 75 percent highway and 25 percent city. I average 20-21 mpg. If I'm all city then I get 17-18 mpg. Straight highway I'll get 23+. My daily idle is about 1 hour straight. I turn off my auto start stop a majority of the time. Occasionally I'll forget to turn it off.

who wants to drive around with cylinder deactivation on to gain a mpg gain? Not me!
I mean it's hardly noticeable and beats the shit out of some stressed out laggy turbo engine trying to make up for a lack of displacement. The transition is very well executed and doesn't seem to have the issues GM has with a similar system.

Regarding the EPA testing, I dont know how it's performed but I cant imagine its in a basically still air environment indoors. I very frequently beat EPA numbers in all the cars I've ever owned. My CX30 awd is rated like 30 hwy (the only number that matters) and I have never EVER seen below 32 mixed. Actually, highway trips usually earn 35mpg. Story continues with my 2022 2.7 f150 and 3.7 2014 mustang both getting 26.5 and 28.5 mixed generally.

Same specs and very similar usage as me. OP, I dropped from 18.5 overall to 17.5 on regular gas just by switching from the stock Pirelli to Continental tires in the same size. I'm not surprised you're losing more than that with HD tires and a level.

Lowered with 24s

I run 91 octane on average and do NOT take it light on the pedal as I have a tune with exhaust and drive it to enjoy it.

I'm around 13.5L/100 km average. Very confident if I was trying to achieve better rmileage, I would be around the 11.5L to 12.0 L
