I stopped at my local Ford dealer to order an F150. They offered me a 2021 on the lot that had been damaged and then gave me a shot at a 2022 that was currently in the body shop. They wouldn't budge at all on the price for the order I had put together and gave to them. I'm 3 hours from Granger in Iowa so I told my local store the info Granger provided and said "you can give me the price I want and I'll order the truck right now or I'll go to Granger". In the end I spent 10 minutes emailing Granger and ordered my truck for about 10% off MSRP.Just because he told you there was a dealer markup, doesnt mean you have to pay it.
The wife traded in her 2018 Equinox for a 2022 Subaru Outback last week.
When negotiating the deal, i noticed the $4800 ADM. Sitting at the sales desk, i pulled up my phone and looked for Subaru dealers. One advertising no markup. Called and put it on speaker. Lady answered. "Hi, im calling around to local Subaru dealers to ask if you markup over MSRP". "No, we never add markup over MSRP".
Hung up, salesguy just staring at me.
"Obvisouly I am not paying that $4800 or we are going to that dealer".
Came right off.
I went to the local Ford dealer. They had a 5500 ADM and didnt want to accept xplan. I told the guy to get the sales manger. Told him staight out. I am not paying ADM and not accepting xplan is bs.
He started rambling about market conditions. I cut him off. You just lost a sale and future service visits and walked out. Ordered from dealer that has no ADM and never questioned xplan.
The original dealer called me back 4 times. Finally talked to owner and told him his business is shady a.f. and they need to stop calling me.
The kicker is that when I was physically at my local Ford store I was sitting next to their 3 Ford GT's. Not Mustang GT's mind you, real deal GT's. 2 of them are the 04-06 models and then 1 of the brand new ones.
