Yes. It was definately and upgrade. Almost everything about the dash was changed. Bunch of new tech was added, new body panels. Cab is the same but different interior panels and color schemes. Sync system is updated. It’s honestly a much better truck in theory. But since it was released around COVID time, as seen everywhere, quality control was an issue and a lot of bugs. To my knowledge, 3.5 and 5.0 engines were updated. I have a 2021 5.0 with 92,000 and I love it. Bought it used at 77,000.

The 5.0 got an entirely new short block with new main oil feeds to heads and a now closed deck, a high pressure oil rail within heads (new to any Ford gas engine PERIOD), camshaft cradles, new pistons, new rings and ringlands, intake manifold and throttle body. I’d be more hard pressed to find similarities than changes.

Go talk to a 2020 owner with an oil burner and you’ll find much different feedback than a 14th gen owner.

If you had a Gen13 and then drove a Gen14, I don't think you would even ask the question.
I think Ford claimed something like 85% of the vehicle is new part#'s?

Both the Coyote and the 3.5 are very much new iterations of their previous version.

Big time. And probably one of the more overlooked things that won't get mentioned is the standard features. I bought an XL. I wanted vinyl floors and vinyl seats. But I bought an XL and found it to be more than enough amenities. There are people out there that drive 302A XLTs that don't even realize they have defrost mirrors. They're standard on every single F-150 2024 and newer. The 36 gallon tank, the increased towing numbers that are now what the trailer tow package used to be standard. I went down the rabbit hole for years trying to figure out how I could get high payload and good towing numbers. And then Ford made everything standard. The revised GVWRs to offset four-wheel drive and other options.

Even things like the LED headlights, auto high beams. These were luxury car features not that long ago that are now on my bare bones F-150 XL.

While there's been things removed over different years and we're seeing it again with 26MY, Ford made a lot of stuff standard and that is a major upgrade. If this had been prior years I would have had to buy an XLT to get what I did.

Ford finally got with the times when the released the 14th gen. The 5.0 is probably the best engine in the entire Half ton market in my opinion. All you have to do is do a side by side comparison and you’ll see for yourself it’s a completely different truck. For the better.

Yes, and a giant price hike. I find the software very annoying, which results in me cursing at the truck very often. I miss the old 2012, which didn't talk back and pop disclaimer after disclaimer in my face, or warnings, alerts,...I just want to drive and not be pestered by this truck! It's also a bit buggy with Android Auto. Otherwise, it's great. 😆

I jumped from a 12th gen XLT to a 14th gen XLT so my 2024 was a huge upgrade in almost every way. The only feature that truck had that this one doesn't for some reason is auto dimming side mirrors. The PowerBoost especially gave me the same mind-blowing sensation of power over my old 1st gen 3.5 as that engine did coming from a 4.6L prior.

I also came from a 2013 3.5. That truck was great, traded for an MKS ecoboost and now I have the 21 5.0. It’s amazing the difference in tech and design in only 8 years.

If the gen 14's were an upgrade over the gen 13's, then I truly cannot image what problem's the gen 13's could possibly have had considering this gen 14 cluster fuck. Or is the cluster fuckery mainly related to PB's?

The gen 13s were solid but had engine issues, oil burning in the 5.0 due to plasma cylinder liners and other things, eco boost had cam phaser issues all over the place. They almost traded engine issues for software and quality control issues. Where theres technology, there are bugs. Gen 14’s have a lot of tech. Lots of modules communicating. Also during COVID times, things were deleted or substituted with a cheaper item. Lots of little things add up. Moral of the story, if you like working on your own truck, get a gen 13, if your a tech wizard, get a gen 14.

I really like the interior on these. It doesn't have that cheap plastic glossy look of the GM's that only looks good in pictures, and just overall has a solid look/feel to it. The 13th gen interior wasn't bad, but I think these are an upgrade. Was also the first gen4 Coyote as well as an upgraded 3.5, plus the power boost option.

I think they nailed the 13th gen in terms of the exterior, especially the refresh, and I'm personally a fan of the way they haven't done anything too major to it since. The new ones still look like something brand new while the 13th gen don't really look outdated.
