Yes, sticker says 302A
Then yours will have oem LEDs installed. Deffinitely worth the extra coverage since those are around 1500 out of pocket per lamp to replace otherwise since they are non-serviceable. Chances are low that you will have a failure, just not zero. So... Yeah...

My truck has always been unreliable and I have a lawyer going after Ford for the amount of days that I have been without it for the same problem and multiple other repairs. I doesn't seem that any other brand is any better these days though.

Got the ESP with rental out to 2030 at which point I plan to either replace it or have an extra vehicle in the fleet. If I buy another car on top of the Powerboost which will probably be a Mustang or Mopar Muscle car I might hold the Powerboost a few years after that and then trade it for a lightly used crew cab half ton or SUV.

My inclination one way or another is for it to not to be with me too long past the ESP expiration. When they did the tailgate recall it scrambled software and caused the headlights to turn on by themselves every 10 minutes. it took 15 days for them to diagnose and fix. Then it needed a heat exchanger.

This truck is enjoyable and hasn't given me problems in about 2 years now but I don't think I want to be financially on the hook for repairs. By 2030 I will probably need a solid around town 4wd hauler that doesn't necessarily need to be a main road trip vehicle so I don't need to blow big money on a truck anymore. My nice primary can be something smaller and the wife should have an SUV to road trip in. I can find an older truck that doesn't need all the bells and whistles that can sit in a service bay for a week without inconveniencing me, or be cut loose without too many tears if it becomes a big burden.

I can see the concern but I would work with the dealer first and see what they find. Could be software, minor adjustment or more serious but either way it’s all warranty. See what they can do to fix and once repaired see how it goes. Looks like you have a ton of warranty room left. If things continue to pop up you have time to re-evaluate. These gremlins could be the only problems you ever have.

  • Powertrain Malfunction Alert: Just recently, I got a “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” alert via FordPass. I hooked up an OBDII scanner and found a bunch of codes (not looking to troubleshoot here, just sharing context).
I recently received this same alert. I haven't taken my truck into the dealer yet, but I suspect it has something to do with the gear shift module. It's been a common failure point and there is a TSB on that: TSB 25-2045.

I picked up my 2024 PowerBoost back in February (used, with about 4,000 miles on it). I'm now at 10,000 miles, and while I love the truck overall, I’ve had a few concerns from the start.

  • Door Latch Issue: Early on, the truck wasn’t registering that the door was closed. Not a huge deal—dealer fixed it quickly.
  • Groaning Noise at Idle: Occasionally, when the engine is running at idle, there’s a loud groaning sound at 1K RPM. It’s not constant, but when it happens, it’s very noticeable.
  • Powertrain Malfunction Alert: Just recently, I got a “Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power” alert via FordPass. I hooked up an OBDII scanner and found a bunch of codes (not looking to troubleshoot here, just sharing context).
All of this has me feeling uneasy about the truck’s long-term reliability. I was hoping to keep it for 8–10 years, but I’m starting to question whether it’ll hold up.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their PowerBoost? What would you do in this situation—stick it out, or consider moving on?
I have a 2022 and I share your concerns about reliability. My PB has been a cluster fuck of problems since I received the order. I'm debating whether to sell this POS as soon as I pay off the auto loan, or ride it out until the wheels fall off. I'm only considering the latter because I expect riding it out till the wheels fall off won't take too long the way things have been going.

Same boat here, my truck has had glitchy problems since day 1. I know my next truck will not have a sunroof, or Lariat trim. I think STX, then put my touches on the truck. At 65 YRS old I wanted my Lariat to last 10 plus years; I don't think it's going to make it. I really like my truck but its a money pit !
If you buy, get the warranty, don't be faced with 4G on Lariat headlights like I have

Sell it immediately at a loss and purchase a Tundra

Ford’s reliability has not been great overall and the PB is among the least reliable of all the F-150 trucks offered due to the complexity of that powertrain. When it works, it is an awesome truck but when it doesn't work it can be frustrating for the owner. There are some that haven’t had any issues but for the most part they are in the minority statistically and are the lucky ones.

Consumer Reports has consistently ranked the F-150 PowerBoost among the least reliable vehicles in recent years. In their 2022 survey, the 2021 F-150 PowerBoost scored a dismal 4/100 for reliability, based on owner-reported issues across 17 problem areas like transmission, electrical systems, and hybrid battery. In 2023, it improved slightly to 19/100, landing as the third least reliable vehicle. For 2024, it scored 7/100, again the lowest, with issues noted in the transmission, electrical systems, and hybrid components. These scores come from surveys of over 300,000 vehicles.

Consumer Reports slammed the PB early on and have not relented. Most of the other review sites have changed their opinion in the PB but not CR. Also I would not trust CR's opinions on anything. My wife sears by them and each time we have bought something based on CR's rating's it's been a pile of crap despite it being the best rated product by them. Besides none of the car brands on the market could be considered any more reliable than the others. None of them build cars or trucks to last most than 8-10 years without falling apart or are plagued with problems across multiple models. Ford, Chevy Toyota, Dodge Every single one has its share of issues. Bottom line is it's a crap-shoot on your getting a good one or not so may as well buy a truck that has the options and features you need/want. If you plan to keep it more than 5-6 years just get a good extended warranty on it.

Never been afraid of admitting a mistake and trade off something questionable, Dumped a 6k mile 05, 5.4 F150, 6k mile 07 Tahoe(tried it, it was just WRONG for me), a 13K (13) GMC SLT (cylinder de-activation issues), 12K mile 16 501 Lariat (door Freeze ups) 12K 18 502a Lariat (Door freeze ups) 12k mile 19 701a Platinum (moon roof) 6,5K 21 302a PB (just bad) Now going into the 4rth year of ownership of a 22 2.7 302a XLT and knock on wood it's so far been very reliable. had a 07 Silverado 4 door and drove it for 5 years until the brake lines started to rust through.

Have to agree with this 100%.

Back in 2020 I purchased a Ranger Lariat with X-plan when Ford was running 0% for 5 years. I loved that truck but it had a water leak issue that the dealers just couldn't fix. Between taking it back in nearly a dozen times and sitting waiting for parts for months I finally said that's it and was about to push for a buyback but traded it in instead with being 2 years old and just 15K on the ODO. Lucky for me the chip shortage was in full swing so new cars were far/few between and used values were over inflated so I got a lot more for it in trade than what I actually paid for it so it turned into a nice fat down payment on the PB I have now.

Well, either keep it and have an extended warranty and work your way through the issues that’s having or sell it.

Just keep in mind, you can sell it, move to Chevy Dodge, or even Toyota, and deal with a whole new barrel of bullshit

Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power alert is likely a faulty Gear Shift Module. There is a TSB out on it and a dedicated thread. I just dropped mine at the dealer this morning to get replaced. It may take 4+ weeks to get the part in so check the thread for knowledge and see your dealer.

I love my 2024 PB. 20 000 miles of smiles already! I did get the 10 yr extended warranty. Doesn't matter the truck, these new ones are all expensive to repair. I consider the warranty as insurance.
