1. 1994 Beijing Jeep Cherokee (made in China). Passed down to me from my family when I was in medical school, that I learnt driving and drifting on.

2. 2000 Mustang. My first vehicle in the US. Spent a lot on it to make the high mileage car shinny. Sold to a new student at time of my graduation at 185k miles, sold on site after I took him drift around our stadium lot. ?

3. Legal immigration is a long a troublesome path, if you want to do the right way. During the uncertainty time, I sold my stang and got a retired P71.

4. Oh, I forgot to mention the 2 fun cars I had during that time, only for drag and autocross. 350Z and NB Miata.

5. Got my first new car, 2013 focus ST after getting my first job.

6. Only kept the ST for about half year, until I broke my knee and cannot drive a manual. I was so regret that I didn't kept the CVPI.
So I had to get something with great discount to compensate my loss on trade in value, also something I always wanted.
After the shortest (time) vehicle I've owned, here comes the longest. A brand new 2013 F150.

Buddy served me well for the 10 years of my ownership. Took me trailing, hunting, with no major issue. It even survived a mice chew. Of course I took care of it as well.

7. 2017 Sonata Hybrid. During the harsh time of gas price, I found a great deal on this hybrid (7k off a 27k car). So it becomes my daily over the f150.

Ford F-150 List what vehicles you’ve had 20180430_195450

It constantly gets 35-42mpg.

8. 2021 VW ID.4. We figured with the Democrats EV tax credit, we had to take some of tax money back, or it goes to those rich MFKRs who can afford an EV:LOL:. Wife liked this car to replace her 13 Escape. So we pre-ordered it and waited 8 months for it. Also, at that post-COVID crazy time, Carvana gave me same as what paid 4 years ago for my Sonata Hybrid. So I sold that car. Actually I wanted an ioniq 5, but Hyundai just fked it up for allowing dealership to markup 10k over the already high MSRP on my pre-order.

Ford F-150 List what vehicles you’ve had 20250204_150826

Had to say that EV is a whole different experience. So quiet and smooth ride and fast. But also so short legged and SO MUCH depreciation ? I agree that EV could be the future, but it don't belongs to NOW, at least not for general public, maybe it's for some small group of elites that enjoy the enhanced experience. We still felt that hybrid is the best EV technology for NOW.

9. In 2022, I Pre-ordered a hybrid Maverick after selling my Sonata Hybrid. Thinking to get some of the 150 work done with a efficiency truck for pretty much same money I get from selling. Ford didn't make mine and cancelled the order. So in 2023, I Pre-ordered 2, a hybrid FWD and a 2.0T AWD, thought I could get one at least. And both of them came in 2024. Back then, the hybrid can sell for 10k over MSRP easier on the private market.

I was planning to use the hybrid to make money and keep the gas. But boy, both wife and I loved that little thing. It has 1500 lbs payload, more than my steel body f150, despite having a smaller bed. I'd say that it can do about 80% of jobs I needed it to do compared to my f150. Actually, I used the bed of the Maverick way lot more. First is it doesn't have a big back seat and flat floor like f150, which I usually just put still in the backseat so I don't have to get into the bed to retrieve when they roll all the way to the front. With Maverick tho, good thing is it's bed sides are so low. I can reach in from the side for anything roll to the front. Also, it's low deck is a lot easier to load stuff. And the truck back end sacks less when hauling the same ATV I have.

10. I could be happily driving 2 Mavericks for the next few years. Then I saw this also 2024 F150 Lariat PB with 7.2kw generator. Living in the hurricane zone, it's nice to have a second set of assurance if power goes out, although I have a generator at home. And it was 14k off the MSRP.
I traded in both my Mavericks, and added 13k cash. This also includes a 3k for Ford's best bumper to bumper extended warranty for 7 years/100k miles.

Vehicles to me, they are more than just way of transportation. They are monuments of the life you've lived. And the Mark of your youth that never comes back.

1995 F-150 XLT regular cab 4x2 - 5.0L V8 (3 years - 1st new vehicle I ever bought)

1986 Ford Bronco II Eddie Bauer 4x4 - 2.9L V6 (2 years - amazing what you will drive when you have a kid… tons of time spent chasing overheating problems)

1998 Chevy S-10 regular cab base trim 4x2 - 4.3L V6 (1 year - very small but easy to drive)

2003 GMC Sierra SLE extended cab 4x2 - 4.8L V8 (2-1/2 years - great truck)

2003 Honda Accord - 3.0L V6 (1-1/2 years - yeah, I don’t know why I drove it that long either after the trucks!)

1996 Toyota Camry - 3.0L V6 (2 years - I was broke and getting back on my feet… it did the job and didn’t cost a ton to operate)

1995 Dodge Ram regular cab long bed 4x2 - 5.2L V8 (4-1/2 years - basically gifted to me by my father-in-law who bought it new 11 years before… only had 42k miles when I got it, drove this a while until about 190k miles and liked it a lot… good work truck)

2011 Ford F-150 XLT crew cab short bed 4x2 - 5.0L V8 (4 years - rekindled my love of the Fords… bought with 12k miles and drove til 225k miles)

This is perfect, now I have proof for my wife that I'm not the least responsible vehicle purchaser in all of creation. You must have your own booth at the DMV

@JCsTruck What was up with the Fiero project? Looks like a nice build.
That was a project car that I purchased back in 2000 to have some fun with. I purchased it on an impulse buy when I was over my uncle's house and I saw the add in the classifieds in the newspaper. It was a near mind 88 5-speed manual transmission Fiero Formula with 30,000 miles on it and I got it for $3,400. I drove it that summer as a second car and decided the following winter that I wanted to hop up the engine which turned into more of a major engine rebuild and suspension rebuild. I know how to rebuild an engine myself so I removed it and had a machine shop bore it and blueprinted the engine and heads and installed high compression hypereutectic pistons in it. I ported the heads myself and installed SS light weight valves that were back cut 20-degrees with a Comp Cams mild camshaft and roller rockers using Desktop Dyno to help select the best camshaft. I put headers on it with a Borla exhaust and refinished every part on that engine so it looked better than new.

Unfortunately life took a turn and I met my wife (20 years now) so I had to sell it to raise funds to renovate my first house which is another story that would amaze a lot of people. Another enthusiast bought the car off me and turned it into an Indy official pace car fiero and then sold it to a guy in Michigan who I’m still friends with. He ended up moving to Texas and offered to sell the car back to me for just $2,500 and I couldn’t do it. ? We just had our first child and I was still working on that old house and my wife had sold her Honda motorcycle to help pay the bills. I lost track of where that car went after that but I still have the VIN # so I guess I could track it down.

That Fiero was fun to drive, very fast, and very loud too. It would either roast the tires or lift the front end. ? I miss that car but now I have my hopes set on a Mustang GT but not till my son is done with St John’s High School which is $21,000 a year and my daughter with college. ? I pretty much do that on one income so money is tight right now but in another 3 years I’m going to have so much money to play with it will be awesome. ?

I want to move out of this expensive to live in state too and Tennessee was on my list. It might have to be New Hampshire though because my wife doesn’t want to move far from the family.

@willuga another great story!

@JCsTruck outstanding story and very cool project! Really nice work on all of it. I'd love to hear what that raucous thing sounded like.

Like you, life gets the way of our "fun" with marriages, kids, house renos, etc...been right there with you. My daughter just graduated college in May, so that period of paying tuition has officially ended...until my stepdaughters decide to go to college in a few years.

You can make the list in the order you obtained them. I like pictures so if you have some then please feel free to post them.

  2. 1989 Pontiac Bonneville LE 30k to 200k and around 7 years.
  3. 1988 Pontiac Fiero Formula project car V6 manual transmission, 30k to 40k and around 3.5 years.
  4. 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 2WD Extended cab, new to 200k and 12 years then got married and needed to get serious ?.
  5. 2001 Volkswagen Jetta (wife's car) new to 105k.

  14. 2024 Ford F-150 SuperCab XL 4x4 5.0 V8 4,200 miles to currently 9k and still driving it. Plan to keep it for at least three years, probably 4, and possibly 5, but anything could change.
I have driven for work various trucks for at least 6-months like:
1983 RCLB GMC 3/4 ton pickup with 5.7L V8 2WD.
1990 RCLB GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 plow truck with 5.7 and 4-speed manual transmission.
1993 RCLB Chevy W/T 1500 2WD 4.3-liter V6 (was a sleeper actually ?).
1996 RCLB Chevy W/T 1500 2WD 4.3-liter V6 (was a slow POS).
1999 RCLB Ram 1500 5.9 liter V8 4x4.
Various other Chevy pickup trucks with the 5.7, 4.8, or 5.3 V8 engines. Cant remember the exact make, model, and years.

That is an interesting mix, I like it! Is it weird that I like the 1989 Chevy Celebrity with 2.8 Liter 60-degree V6. I had one for a rental for a couple of weeks. I also like the 1962 Chevy Nova Station Wagon with 250 6 cylinder. Kind of looks like this.

That's it. Only mine was blue with a white roof. 2 speed Power-glide Auto transmission. Ran like a top and took me everywhere when I was in high school.
