V8’s will always be in-charge when it comes to my arsenal, albeit the newest addition is GM :stop:

Bet it sounds great in that boat.

Crazy how big those are yet the output isn’t mind blowing. Seems like all these modern smaller motors are wound up so tight to make the high numbers.

They're probably detuned somewhat to account for the fact that marine service can be very taxing, constant high load for hours at a time. That's my guess as to why they often aren't rated very high on the hp scale.

I like how he claimed the "data be damned, we're bringing back the V8". Sales data is one thing, but the amount of complaints, emails, or forums blowing up about the lack of a Hemi in the Ram is likely what triggered the return. Oh yeah, it's $1200 more on top of the truck, too
stellantis former CEO is the reason why HEMI engines left.

I know. He was a bit of a nutjob. But bringing them back wasn't due to Dodge coming to their sense on their own. There was likely a massive public push behind the scenes that he won't reference...just that he's the cool guy bringing them back.

Put the money into fixing the turbo 6 and making it bulletproof.... forget the past. That's one reason RAM was never on my list up until a year ago. Choice of a weak V6 or antique V8.

I dunno, ford has a few 6 cylinders that seem to do ok...
True, but don’t forget artificially propped up by manufacturer limitations and incentives since day 1. My dealer cannot even order 5.0 trucks to fulfill demand, factory limits V8 order allocations and places no restrictions on other powertrains. They also restricted the 6.2L allocations big time back when that was available in the half tons. Can’t sell what you aren’t willing to sell.

If you don’t think a 5.5-6 liter version of the Coyote for not a fortune and no factory allocation limitations would not sell I’ve got news for you….

Godzilla and 6.7 PowerStrokes seem to sell just fineeeee with no restrictions in play FWIW.

After going through their teething pains as well.

My wife rented a Grand Wagoneer with that engine in it last summer and drove it from MA to St. Louis. She didn't like it at all, felt underpowered for the size of that vehicle. She had to constantly keep her foot in it, which resulted in poor MPG and uninspiring performance. For comparison, she drives a Defender 110 with a turbo/supercharged I-6, so she's not a V8 snob at all.

Hopefully this is the start of something bigger with Dodge and the entire CDJR lineup. Give the people what they want!

That's true. However, it's not really what I was talking about. You said " Better yet just design a modern V8, nobody wants a 6 cylinder." People would probably buy more 5 liters in f150's if they could, but you certainly can't say nobody wants an ecoboost 2.7, 3.5, or 3.5 hybrid. There are plenty of people here on the 6 cylinder side when the silly 5 liter vs v6 wars get started. That's all I was saying.

Oh I agree with you I’m just a snob haha, plenty of people like them. I just get sick of Fords play on words. When they discontinued the 6.2 half ton they cited a “10% take rate” my dealer said guess what, Ford only allocated 10%of the run and they fulfilled every single allocation. Meaning demand far exceeded Fords limitation. Ford puts on a limit so dealers CANNOT sell them. Then says they discontinue because they didn’t sell enough. Dumbest shit I’ve ever heard and people over at MotorTrend and Car/Driver eat it up like applesauce and run with it.

Geez, that's lame. I guess if they don't know about the production limit they're bound to assume it was the market speaking.
