So I'm at the light making a left hand turn onto the hwy. Truck autostops, light turns green, foot on accelerator, auto hold disengaged and I roll out onto the hwy(was on a hill at the stop light). Of course the truck has no go as.the engine isn't running. Im in a bit of a wtf moment and seeing the tach at 0 I slip into neutral to start the engine. Truck doesn't appreciate that I suppose and slams brakes on to a complete stop now block both east bound, one west, one south and one north lanes. Im literally blocking the entire hwy. Put into park and pressed the button and as if nothing happened it fired up. I then moved off the hwy, collected my self, and went on my way.
Oh and I was of course pulling my trailer.
Now I'm trying to get in the habit of shutting off the autostart.
Thought this was a one off but no.
Yesterday back at our parking lot I was dropping my trailer off and went out to unhook it. When I got back the damn engine was not running. Having a bit of time since I'm not blocking the hwy, I look at the dash and it says full power acc. Not running as if I pushed the start button with out foot on accelerator. Honestly sick of these new vehicles.
I'm sure I will have to take it to get some updates where it will sit like my 21 did for over 24hrs getting updated.
I feel better now.
Can't wait for this lease to end.

That's unfortunate on your highway failure. The other situation you mentioned though. How long were you out of your truck getting your trailer disconnected? Being in park shouldn't trigger the vehicle to activate that. I do know after a while at idle these newer trucks will shut off on their own but the accessories will still be on. Which I know that can be disabled via forscan. Keep us posted on how this goes.

I'm going to get anything new again. I'm going backwards to something like a 2017 hd. Less tech anyways. Our 2017 Edge has 200k virtually flawless miles. The small issues that have come up I can fix.

Mine stopped working properly. Replaced the with an AGM battery and went with the bigger size, have no issues now with functionality and the truck fires up even quicker it feels too.

Personally I've disabled it with a $49 module from Amazon on our 2025, I want that engine to run 100% of the time while I'm driving it. I'm not confident an engine will always start when you really depend on it, as that's how engines kind of are. Once it gets running don't want to shut it off until reached the destination.

That's definitely a lesson learned with old carburated cars. These are far better, but I wouldn't want to depend on it in a sketchy situation.

It can still be enabled when in a drivethrough or such.

100% this.

You will also never be able to convince me it's perfectly healthy on a vehicle to have it constantly shutting off/starting. There is no way it won't shorten the life of your vehicle.

All in the name of 1mpg.

What is 100% guaranteed to happen, is the battery will become weak one day and need replacing. That's when one will get stranded. It can be anything from 2 years to 5 years, impossible to say, batteries have a tendency to decide their own expiration date, independent of how long they are "supposed" to last.

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I disabled my 2021 5.0 some time ago. It now defaults to Start/Stop OFF when started. The Button is still active, so I can press it when I feel suicidal or female to reactivate Start/Stop. I disabled for precisely the reason that you need to.

I have had no battery problems so cannot address those.

I bought my harness from 4DTech. It was a straightforward and easy installation.

https://www.4dtech.com/

I also installed one on my 2023 Yukon Denali XL. It was even easier to install. I have a GMC Terrain that I will install sometime when in my man mode.

Much of this technology is not ready for prime time but has been installed for testing to those of us not smart enough to understand that we are the real world test platform.

You were fortunate to survive.

Not necessarily.
Has to have a good charge for it to even shut down.
Granted when it stops shutting off, the battery will be suspect.

However--I had a few instances of not restarting after it shuts off.
Annoying, freaks one out for a minute, and may be a safety hazard.

I ended up disabling mine with ForScan.
Mine is a 21 and now it gets a steering input every time it wants to shut off.
I can actually feel it. The truck stumbles just a hair shortly after coming to a stop.

Again--not necessarily the battery SOC. Mine acted up with a new fully charged H8 battery
About a week after installing the battery---I thought, time to disable this ASS crap.

Not sure it can be done in the newer models, but there are alternatives

The 4DTech part is seamless. Just as if SS was never on it to begin with.

Tow/haul mode disables it.

If you aren't using that, you should disable it, anyway, when towing or hauling.

You should disable it, anyway, period.

Or use a bypass or Forscan to shut it off.

YOUR GLOVE BOX LIGHT IS ON
This just happend today in my 21 5.0 twice at two consecutive stop lights. Dead pedal after auto stop shut motor off and no restart when floored. Dash said put in park and restart vehicle. It did restart and did the exact same thing at the next light. Pulled into the gas station refueled after I shut the truck off manually and it never did again the rest of the way home.
