Opening tailgate with keypad

I have not been able to open tailgate with keypad. Manual says you can. Dealer says he can’t fix.
anyone else have this issue.

I am pretty sure it doesn't work if you have the power up/down tailgate. I had it on my previous trucks but my 24 with the power up/down tailgate doesn't open with the keypad. I assume its because of the extra components.

Yes, that’s seems to be the reason, as other owners with the same model year report it works, but the only thing in common is Power tailgate.

Not sure why those two have to be mutually exclusive, as opening the tailgate from the button on the dash or the key still works.

I thought that only works on 21 trucks and was removed afterwards but I might be wrong on that. So many things have been cut now. ?

Didn't they change it in an OTA to a double-press to open the tailgate with the remote or the cab button? Maybe hit the 5-6 twice?

I don't know - I only use the button on the tailgate to open it.

Dropping tailgate from keypad is still one button press even with two button press inside cab.

I never use the feature other than when I was showing off to people. I have cab button and fob I don't need to drop it from keypad.

this is something i wish worked but as someone else has mentioned, i think those with power up/down cant get this to work on the keypad...which sucks bc Id LOVE to be able to rather than opening the door and hitting the button.

Just tried it for the first time on my 2022 with power up/down tailgate - no joy.

Obviously, given that's the first time I've tried it on 3 years, I'll not miss it, but there's another data point for those who are curious.

it escapes you? sheesh ?

when i'm outside doing yard stuff i dont have my keys in my pocket. sometimes i gotta grab something out the bed or maybe i got something to throw in the bed. It would be nice to use the keypad to unlock the truck and drop the tail gate but i gotta open up the door to hit the button. it sure would be nice to just use the keypad.

to note, i have a bed cover so i gotta open the tail gate for bed access.

Just went to my local landfill transfer station. They take down your DL and look at whatever you are dumping. Since I have a bed cover, I have to lower the tailgate for them to see what I am dumping.

Gotcha, makes sense. So the unlock with the keypad doesn't also unlock the tailgate? That I did not know. Having no use for a tonneau cover (tools in a crossbed box) I've never in 45 years of pickup ownership ever locked a tailgate. But obiously many do and I hadn't considered that it would be locked when you uapproached it.

OK. But as long as it is unlocked, the attendant can't just press the button? And of course you have a button in the cab where you're already seated. Not the OP's want.

Like with CrazyWayne311's reply, once the tailgate is unlocked, I still can't see the value in pressing another button at the key pad vs. pressing the one at the gate. Maybe its me, and this is definitely a pretty minor example, but its Fords (and others) continual pursuit to be all things to all people that makes these vehicle so complicated. OK, call me a Luddite.

I have a 2022 F-150 my key fob opens my tailgate..
