The purpose is to "save" the business, as opposed to other forms of bankruptcy which would liquidate the company. Many finance experts said Trump is correct that Chapter 11 reorganization is NOT always the result of bad business decisions.

Four of the six corporate bankruptcies were casinos/hotels that failed during the early 1990s recession and the Gulf War, both of which contributed to hard times in Atlantic City and NYC (1991 Taj Mahal, 1992 Trump Castle Hotel & Casino, 1992 Trump Plaza Casino, 1992 Trump Plaza Hotel). The other two were the two holding companies for the casinos and hotels (2004 and 2009)

Now name me 10 successful businesses that Joe Biden started - but you can't include any of the dozens and dozens of shell companies that he, Hunter, and their associates set up to launder all the money from foreign entities and foreign governments to various Biden family members -- you know, the family members that Joe issued full preemptive, retroactive to 2014 pardons to, just 15 minutes before he left office.

He's saying that to let those who c/would be subject to the tariffs know that he's serious.

Think about it: If all he wanted was to collect the tariff revenue, then why didn't he impose the tariffs two days ago instead of giving them time to change their behavior?

Some will fall in line and not have tariffs applied.

Some will have tariffs applied and will eventually fall in line, and the tariffs will be removed.

And I'm sure some will refuse and the tariffs will be applied and remain -- AGAIN, just like the Trump tariffs that the Biden administration left in place for the last four years.

FYI: I never said they were meant to change CONSUMER behavior. They are predominately aimed at (a) foreign governments (Mexico, Canada, China) to get them to help the US close our borders to illegal migration, human trafficking, and/or drugs and (b) corporations to get them to move jobs back to the US.

Foreign governments don't want their exports to suffer, and corporations don't want their products to be too expensive to be sold here in the US.

Also, China and other countries make it difficult or impossible for US made products to be sold there while simultaneously enjoying the ability to have their products sold here. That has to stop, one way or another.
