Hi all,

I noticed something today that jarred me. My 2025 ram truck (yes, the one I'm lemon lawing) is 2 whole trim levels below the top. Even so, it stickers for ALMOST 3 GRAND MORE THAN A NEW BASE CORVETTE. This is absolutely bonkers. Ford and gm are just as bad. I guess the buying public, me included, is mostly to blame for this. Yes, they're totally different types of vehicles, but damn, come on.

The truck has far more materials going into it (metal, glass, plastic) Makes since it costs more...
I am always surprised by how inexpensive trucks are compared to a little car like a 911.

Yes, the truck has more materials. That pales in comparison to the price of the specialized materials and assembly methods of the much-more-expensive-to-manufacture corvette, built on it's own assembly line in hugely smaller volumes. Prime example: In 1992, the base price of a chevy suburban was $18,155. The base corvette listed for $33,635. I think the suburban was a bit more substantial materials-wise than a corvette. But now, MIDRANGE trucks are MORE expensive than a corvette. This is bonkers. Yes, the c8 corvette is a screamingly good deal for the performance, but DAMN, a half ton pickup that's nowhere near the top of the range should not be more expensive.

Wow…..that’s crazy.
I’m thinking that prices will drop quite a bit come 3rd quarter of ‘25

My dad used to deliver fuel to farmers. I'd call him when gas prices went up dramatically because sometimes it was for good reason. Most of the time he'd just say "You know why they raised prices? Cause they can."

Same with trucks. People keep buying them, they're going to keep charging whatever they want.

Could be sooner. My daughter is shopping for a 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid that is supposed to be a fairly fast selling vehicle and several dealers have sent her buyers orders with up to $5000 off MSRP if she buys before the end of the month. I think most of the car market has been getting pretty competitive over the past 6 months or so. I know I did very well when I bought my pickup and worked a couple dealers against each other back in July.

Add the Union workers recent hard-fought pay bump to supply chain, inflation and all the other aspects contributing to skyrocketing costs.

Hang onto your boxers if tariffs are put into place: an XL for $80K.

correct, but depending on brand, trucks are only assembled in USA. Components come from all over the world.
