2023 f150 tremor
Here’s my honest take. I have a 23 3.5 tremor. My dad has an 18 2.7 and I’m currently driving a 23 lariat 5.0 because someone T boned The right side of my tremor.

After driving all 3 the 3.5 is the king for me. The instant response and power are just drool worthy. And on road trips it will pull 23mpg all day.

the 2.7 is a rocket to 65mph and almost more fun that all 3 around town. Mileage in our 2.7 is about 18mpg around town and a tad better on highway because we do over 65mph.

the rental 5.0 I have I have to say is a fucking dog. This thing requires sooooo much pedal just to get a response. Driving it on 87 octane was frustrating as all hell after driving the turbo trucks. I like my power before 4k rpms. 91 helped it a tad. E85 helped it a lot more but she averages 15mpg on n e85 and my ecoboost 3.5 would still rip the face off this v8 at any rpm any situation. Sounds great but takes forever to hop just like every dodge out there.

I think the biggest flaw in the v8 for me is the cylinder deactivation. If it was locked into v8 a lot of the delays would go away and the engine could just breathe and respond more instantly.

Would never buy another ford v8 ever again. The ecoboost is just too damn fast and fun. 3.5 is a sledge hammer on wheels.

The average 5.0 F150 isn't a 3800lb tube chassis truck making 1500hp. The fastest F150s are 5.0 trucks, because obviously the 5.0 is the best option for making over 1000hp.

When it comes to daily drivers, I would argue that the average tune only 3.5EB is faster than the average tune and bolt on 5.0 F150. It's very cheap and easy to make 550 hp/600 lb-ft with a 3.5EB, but don't buy a 3.5EB if you want 1000hp.
I am not talking about race trucks.

The fastest daily driven f150s are 5.0 trucks.

Yes the 3.5 has a slight advantage when talking about just a few minor boltons.

I really don’t care about the fastest f150. Spray your daily and lmk how that works out for ya at a 100,000 miles. Been down that road and back my man.

FP tuned trucks can still tow and not lose any mpg or function tho
Go try and make 500+ WHP with your 2.7/3.5 and see how that works for longevity. I would argue an occasional 600whp nitrous or 600+WHP turbo 5.0 would last longer.

Noted but I have heard the complete opposite.

Isn't it silly to talk about the fastest F150s, while excluding all the ones that are actually fast? How much money can we spend before it's a race truck? Does weight reduction make it a race truck? What about removing the cats and making it illegal to drive on public roads?

If you want to spend over 10K on upgrades, a supercharged 5.0 easily wins until you melt the cats doing long or back to back pulls.

If you want to spend less than 5K on upgrades, the 3.5EB is very hard to beat. Spending less than 1K, the 3.5EB is the only option.

Good grief. The endless loop of argument and attempts at rationalization. As is always the case, parameters and expected outcomes determine > or <. An engine which excels at one outcome may not yield the same excellence for a different outcome i.e speed vs tow capacity. We prioritize best case uses to determine which engine to select. There is no better or not without parameters and use application.

A stock PB with a tune to ungimp the factory torque limitations runs mid 4s to 60 and 12s in the quarter on pump gas while also getting better mileage without trying. Despite the attempted narrative trying to be pushed, most runs happen from a stop. The slower vehicle is always trying to introduce modifications / limitations to the run conditions.

Are any of the Powerboost crew concerned about the current reliability reports ranking them third from last, on the list?
Because I drive a 2024 RCSB, I don’t have to worry about choosing the right engine. Ford made the choice easy for me.

Not sure what your point is. You brought up 3800lb tube chassis 1000+ HP trucks.

The fastest street/daily driven trucks are all 5.0 period. If you think a 500+ whp 3.5 is reliable but a 600whp turbo 5.0 truck isn’t reliable. Then guess what I have ocean front property in Arizona ?

Now back on topic which is stock vs stock.

Actually most runs don’t happen from a stop. That statement is intellectually false.

The 5.0 is the faster vehicle stock vs stock. I won’t argue that the power-boost is slightly quicker.

Also nobody is introducing modifications. Stock vs stock. Well unless you count my front leveling struts as “modded” ?

Haven't had a roll race for 15 years. Besides that you're not catching this truck. With nearly twice the torque to the ground as the 5.0, I see why you're skeered about that 60ft.

Look, if you skeeeeeered, just say it.

My point is that arguing about the fastest stock truck is weird because anyone that cares about going fast isn't driving a slow stock truck. So how much money can you spend before a daily 5.0 or 3.5EB F150 becomes a race truck and what mods would disqualify it from being a daily? Buying a Whipple or turbo kit costs most people 10-15K after install which is why tune only trucks are way more common.

Bone stock with all the limiters in place I can find examples of 3.5EB and 5.0 crewcab trucks running similar 1/4 times in high 13s and low 14s with very similar 60ft times. Neither truck hits 100mph by the end of the 1/4 mile, but they both get very close.

According to Road and Track, the 2024 Honda Accord runs a 13.9s 1/4 mile, with that context both trucks are disappointing if you care about who's fastest when bone stock.

What kind of idiot is ragging on their tin can truck up to 100mph?

I would admit the 5.0 feels best all around, but the 3.5 pulls way harder at low revs just going normally around town. While the 5.0 beats the crap out of the 3.5 for mpgs, it falls short of the 2.7 by about 3 mpg in my real world testing. The 2.7 doesnt feel bad by any stretch, but its a hard comparison to the other two.
Nailed it. I’m not even reading this thread because the premise is so stupid.
