That's what I'm wondering as well. I think I would pass if it was just 10lbft of torque.

I really wonder if the raptor uses the same Ecoboost as the rest of the lineup since 2021. I know the previous gen had different compression ratios and different turbos but I cannot find anything on the new ones
It’s completely different. It’s a 3.9l stroker. Raptor Life!!!

Edit: I think it’s a mild tune of the same 3.5 Ecoboost combined with exhaust mods and some nice transmission improvements we PB owners long for. Better cooling and improved torque handling which challenge the mighty PB.

Yeah, theres others with a lot more resources out there than i have. Maybe someone will chime in...
I've always wondered if the Raptor's extra 50hp was just software. I mean, from a quick Google search it appears all 3.5's have the same turbo's including the Raptor.

Makes sense thinking that the H.O. 3.5 the Raptor and Expedition have is just different software. I wonder if FP would give me a real answer if they are asked haha

I don't know about the Gen14's, but the 2018-2020 F150 and Raptor did run the same turbos. (2017 F150 had a slightly smaller turbo)
The HO was a -.5 in compression by design. And the software calibration was obviously different.

I doubt they would tell us for fear of losing raptor sales, but the lack on information and the fact that livernois shared a page for the standard 3.5 and raptor makes me think they do have the same engine this generation.

If anyone knows it's probably hammaman lol

Appreciate the details. i should have guessed compression was probably a bit different

Compression ratio is currently 10.5:1 for both engines so far as I can tell.

The REAL question is this...do we believe this new graph or is it JUST to save face for the Raptor Bros? haha

Or was it mistake from the beginning. I mean i wish i had some friends with dynos but i'm damn sure not gonna go pay for one either at the moment b/c i need some roof work done haha

I ended up getting my tune from Stage 3 and they said they should have their shipment in any day now.

i think the 50hp and 10tq is kinda crap though if thats what it ends up despite the tq coming on sooner.
I had this thought too. Like maybe it is the same as the Raptor FP tune, unofficially. Not sure if HPtuners can read these FP tunes but that would answer that question.

Would be harder to answer based on results. Before and after of stock 3.5s might indicate, especially if we see before and after on Raptors. It would be just enough to interest me on the FP Raptor tune.

I’m sure there’s a few things different but you may be right and it’s essentially the same tune. Seems at the moment MOST major parts are the same (heads/turbos) and that a few more pounds of boost and different mapping gave the raptors the higher HP numbers.

I may call FP Monday and talk to them. I’ll be upset if I bought this tune under the impression it gave the me 466hp 554tq only to now see 450hp and 510tq

and another thing...why is it that the Ranger/Bronco Raptors can squeeze 455hp and 536tq from a 3.0L engine for their tune and the 3.5L is only mustering 466hp/554tq?

Honestly seems like the 2.7/3.0 is much better designed engine. It has a semi closed deck for reinforcement since it was designed for boost from the get go

well do you want the motor to last over 100k? cause those little motors pushing that power are disposable at this point.

Absolutely. The factory tune uses a ton of different torque, pressure, and spark limits to control how much power the engine makes under various conditions. Some of these limits almost always apply, but others only apply in very specific scenarios.

In general the overall torque limit for the engine at 2500RPM is 456 lb-ft as seen below:

44786.JPG

If both the accelerator pedal and brake pedal are pressed at the same time a new torque limit kicks in, this is the dual foot limit and it severely limits engine torque. At 2581RPM it only allows for 267.5 lb-ft, this is calculated by splitting the difference between the limits at 1475RPM and 3688RPM. The torque limit at 3688RPM is only 92 lb-ft as seen below:

20919.JPG

When I want to launch my truck hard, I stand on the brake pedal and hit the accelerator pedal so that I can build boost before launching to get off the line faster. How much boost I can build and how high the RPMs get depend on how high or low the dual foot torque limit is set.

If the limit is set too low, I won't be able to build much boost and I won't be able to launch at a high engine RPM. If this limit is set way too high and essentially turned off, the only limit is what the truck will physically allow before something breaks or you're unable to keep the truck from pushing through the brakes and moving.

Launching in 4A with street tires, 300 lb-ft and 2500RPM seems to be the sweet spot for my truck. Doing this I hit 455 lb-ft by 3000RPM and 540 lb-ft by 3500RPM as the boost continues to build in 1st gear. I don't hit full boost until right around 4000RPM in 1st gear and at that point I'm making about 585 lb-ft of torque.

If I ran slicks at a drag strip, I might try launching at 400 lb-ft which would put the engine RPM considerably higher than 2500RPM.
Can you do this fully stock and adjust the computer w/ FDRS or Forscan? Thinking Offroad applications… rocking out of sand / ruts / etc

I ask bc I don’t have a tune.
