Greetings everyone, I am new on this forum. Ordered a 24 Lariat with powerboat, black appearance, FX4 and max tow. My production date is the week of 9/15. Sales rep said I would be able to make changes up till then.

So when I was choosing the options, I originally wanted to get the upgraded tow mirrors for somewhere around $250. I occasionally drive HD trucks at work and I like being able to see more in the tow mirrors. I know it sounds ridiculous but when the preview of the truck was being shown I thought it didn't look right because the image preview was showing chrome mirrors on the rest of the black appearance theme and it looked "wrong" for lack of a better term. My girlfriend said it made the truck look like in had Dumbo ears so I decided to stick with the base mirrors.

Now I'm second guessing myself. Did you get the upgraded tow mirrors or stick with the original? Are you happy with them or would you change them?

I wanted to get the tow mirrors as it being a $250 option, it is a steal if you need it. I just could not get over the amount of side vision it blocked as these mirrors are huge. Great if you do a lot of towing of long trailers but for regular driving, the regular OEM mirrors are outstanding.

If you do not need that additional mirror view you will be more than happy with the regular mirrors as they are fairly large anyway. Good luck.

I upgraded to power fold and extend after the fact. Cost is around $3000 and a pain in the ass. But very much worth it. I had manual tow mirrors but wanted folding option.

Get the tow mirrors. If you do not like them, you can trade for reg mirrors + $800-$1000 cash.

The only reason to get the max-tow package is because you plan to tow something. Does not make sense to do so w/o the towing mirrors. - Although it can be (and is frequently) done without them, the difference is significant.

I've had tow mirrors for ~20 years on my two F150s.

Absolutely love 'em, daily-driving and towing, zero regrets, the power-fold on the Lariat is wonderful, IMO they are the best-value option in the entire Order Guide.

My 2021 had tow mirrors and my new truck does not. My take is if you tow a trailer then absolutely. If you tow something like a boat the regular mirrors work just fine. The tow mirrors actually create a blind spot when driving in cities. Numerous times I would be at a cross walk and could not see a pedestrian or bike due to the large mirrors. So if you drive a lot in town and do not have a trailer I would suggest the regular mirrors. That’s my take anyway.

They are $750 for non-folding or $1150 for folding if you want to add them later.

Im with Kodiak...

I didnt order my truck... it came 'as-is' and with the tow mirrors. I dont like 'em. They are huge and stick up pretty tall and Im 6'1" and sit pretty high in my seat.
My '15 had the smaller mirrors and they are better IMO. I tow the boat twice a year, out to the lake in spring and back home in the fall. The jet skis and Mustangs dont require the extra visibilty in the rear...
I was going to swap with another friend who owns a Plat but didnt want to deal with all the wiring and switches (fold\extend) etc so I just kept them.
It really comes down to, do you need them? A lot of people get them for looks but are like me and never use them. If you have a real need; trailer, boat, etc then $250 is a no brainer. If youre going to Home Depot and dinners like me... save the $250 and the visibility.

I see the advantages of both. Even normal driving the extra mirror area and fish-eye portion are very nice to have, but then there's the reduced forward/side visibility... tough call if you don't really need them for towing. If you have a big trailer you use often then I would not hesitate to get the tow mirrors. IMO, they're almost a necessity for big trailers. They may steal 0.5-1 mpg I have heard... I've not confirmed this, and YMMV.

Something else to consider, I have the regular mirrors and I tow a big box trailer 4-6 times a year. I'm going to pick up a pair of these clip-on tow mirrors for the next time I pull it. Will report here when the chance comes up. May be a good fix for a smaller mirror regularly, but more real estate when needed. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ksc-81860

If you order BAP, the mirror caps are black. The render provided by Ford is wrong. Same for the chrome line along the side windows. It is black, not chrome. The power-fold tow mirrors are incredible! I don't tow much, but I love the added blind spot visibility that they provide.
