2023 Ford F150 PB
To counter the other thread about buyer's regret, I just want to post my praise of my 2023 Ford F150 PB FX4 with ProPower.

As you can read from my recent thread, I am mightily impress with my PB: https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...yl-power-backup-experience.25966/#post-482642

It saved my family much suffering during recent hurricane. The 7.2 kW generator is a GAME-CHANGER!! THAT ALONE MAKES THIS VEHICLE AMAZING!!

But beyond that I do think that my F150 PB is a near perfect vehicle. I have owned MANY vehicles from Corolla to Land Cruiser LC200 to BMW M3 to Lexus thru the past 20 years. I can say with confidence that my F150 is the BEST vehicle to date. Why?

It has a ton of power...great passing power. Great power in the mountains. (Transmission could be better....)

It is very quiet on the highway, rivaling my wife's Lexus GX460. Quieter than my Land Cruiser.

It is cavernous inside!! My kids love it. I did a rear bench modification to make it rake more so that my kids are not so upright. It is the perfect road trip vehicle with tons of storage in bed, power outlets galore, and it is quiet.

The BlueCruise is good, but more importantly for road trips, the lane centering is phenomenal!! It helps me stay refresh even after 6-10 hours of driving!

The ride is good for a truck...slightly floaty (I have the FX4 package) but soft. I find the ride rather good. Add the quiet ride and elevated driving position and I love my truck cruising down the highway. The front seats are the most comfy seats I have ever sat on! Love 'em!

The tech is quite good. Cameras are high quality...something that Toyota/Lexus are still far behind. LED headlights are great. Apple CarPlay works great with iOS 18!! Fast connection and solid too!!

B&O Unleashed is a good system. Very smooth playback. It reminds me of a BOSE system. Not very pitchy. Just generally good sound...very good stage and elevation.

Now the minor negatives:

1. I have a weird rattle on the passenger side door that you can hear after parking in sun for hours. BUT, within 10 min of AC ON, rattle goes away! So I don't mind.

2. Ford unknown for reliability / durability. I have Ford extended warranty...so I am not worried...thus a minor concern (if at all).

I did have to visit my dealer ONCE unscheduled when I first bought it due to 12V battery issue; dealer was great and replaced it...no issue past 25k miles.

I am at 28k miles and truck has been pretty much flawless and so darn practical!!! As I note in above link, I will be a Ford owner forever if they keep innovating and keeping quality up.

Thanks Ford.

Nice pics.

I too like my PB even though mine hasn't been perfect.

I'm curious how you modified the rear seats to lean the back rests more. My kids would appreciate that for long trips.

Bumping the tire pressure up helps firm up the ride. Try bumping the fronts up to 40 psi keeping the rear where they're at unless towing / maxing payload.

We heard what sounded like a transformer blow up and lost power this afternoon at about 11. My wife and I went to the store and then went out to eat lunch and were gone for about 2 hours. Power company gave an estimate time of repair at 4 to 6 o'clock that evening. I was all set to hook up the PB when we got home. However the power was back on at 1 o'clock when we got home and I did not have to hook up the truck to go back to work.

At 3 we lost power again. Estimated repair time was at 6 to 8 o'clock. I knew that they would get it sooner but after 10 minutes I went to hook up the PB but the power came right back on.

Moral of this story is that hooking up the truck is so easy there is no hesitation to keep the power (and my business) working. Just start the truck and plug in the 30 amp cord. This PB is a dream.

I got this kit from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/313061916678

It does have some "side effects" from this install. The rear seat back no longer locks into the back. And if you have the under seat storage barrier, then you have to take it out.

What I did was to use the carseat "loop" in the back to lock in the headrest post to "secure" the back rest.

When I read how nice the bigger more expensive trucks are I almost regret ordering a RCSB XL.. But I just couldn't/wouldn't make that bigger payment. I set my limit absolutely under 50 grand and wanted to stay at 40 K if possible. But a really nice truck!

After a rocky start with software issues, my 23 PB Plat is turning out to be pretty remarkable. The fact I can putter around town and get 25-30 mpg while still having oodles of passing/towing power is impressive. Not to mention the ability to power my entire house if need be. Saves $10-$15k on a whole house backup generator that will just set there doing nothing 98% of the time. My one wish for the PB model going forward is they either double the size of the electric motor/battery- or they come up with a plug in hybrid option that will allow 20-30 miles of electric only driving. That would be even more amazing.

My 22XLT PB has already paid for itself this year with $3k earned in Home Depot deliveries. 30K on the clock and it has been flawless.

Other than changing out a weak OEM battery I've done nothing more than oil changes and tire rotations. Tires look good to hit 80k. I'll be having the tranny fluid changed soon, really can't do that job without a proper lift. Smile on my face every time I hit the "go" button.

Exactly. Love the truck every time I drive it. So relaxing to drive such a big vehicle!

Speaking of puttering around town and getting great mileage - this was this morning’s Home Depot run coming home. Chose side roads so speed stayed below 45 mph…

First, that's awesome that it's being good for you, I love mine as well, second I'm very interested in the rear seat adjustment, how hard was it, can you describe it, or post some pictures. Thirdly, I've heard that some have had rattles before and it's the mirror mounts on the interior, you snap off the plastic and tighten the screws, then put some interior sound deadening tape on it. Of course, it could completely be unrelated and coming from different area. I hate rattles too
