Question: I never received 23-PU1009-SS-NS. But I did get the audio improvements one (23-PU1024-6CH-AUD). So does that mean I’m not likely to get it and maybe those modules won’t get updated? Or is it more likely, they don’t need it?

Ok, I updated the spreadsheet with 3 OTA"s that came out while I was away. @Big Dog Daddy send me a PM with the updates and the VIN's for me to look it up, so thanks for that.

Do we know which module got updated with 24-PU0226-SAPT yet?
To the best of my knowledge 24-PU0226-SAPT looked like an As-Built only change unless we have a pre and post as built to run a compare, we don't know. It may be a question for Jesse.

Would you please restate that for dummies?

It was a config change in the PCM, so it would not affect audio at all.

It's possible you haven't gotten it yet or sometimes updates get replaced by another one.

See, somehow all the streams got crossed. Because I’m not sure what that means. (Unless you quoted the wrong message?)

My first question (typo fixed) was about getting later updates and whether or not I’d get previous updates.

My second question was about BBD’s statement of As-Built and what he meant.

23-PU1009-SS-NS Is a PCM "power train control module" update It caused a problem on some trucks causing a wrench light on the dash. Ford may have pulled it and may eventually rerelease it. So, this update involves new software being load with the OTA.

24-PU0226-SAPT Did not replace any vehicle software it simply made changes to the vehicle's settings. Similar to what you would use Forscan for.

I have a Mongoose coming and can check pre and post if you would like however, preliminary data on VIN check doesn't show this update in the queue for my MY23 302A. Do let me know what AB, if not all you want, pre- and post-updates I plan to make to modules this weekend.

Regarding the Phantom Updates that were being thrown around on here: Was there a specific update that was failing, or was the term being used for any update that got caught up in the loop?

After changing my battery and installing a NOCO charger I've had pretty decent luck with OTA updates recently. My latest success was 23-PU1113-UNX-DC on March 30th. Since then, all has been quiet.

This morning FordPass showed no download, but when I started my truck the download schedule icon was up. Pressing it pulled up the reschedule page, and when I selected the details, it showed me the Installation Successful page for the above mentioned update.

I've rescheduled it to try again in about an hour from now to see if it will clear, but I assume this is what everyone was talking about when they started seeing the Phantom Updates.

Assuming that it won't clear itself after this scheduled update cycle, was there ever a resolution for clearing the Phantom Updates, or do we just have to let them time out and drop off?

I had a similar scenario that I wanted to share in case it helps someone else.

I got notification that the door update was ready to apply and it was happening the next morning at 1:30am {my set auto update time}.

The next day it said it failed and rescheduled for 2 days later. I don't drive my truck very far (work from home), so I assumed it was due to the battery level. So I threw on the noco 10 for a good 5 hours, came out and it showed green. I figured I was good.

The next attempt also failed and the list of things it could be was all the doors closed, proper charge and then I saw one that made me think. It was the battery temperature needs to be optimal.

So I can't 100% confirmed this is what got it to work, but for the third attempt I hooked up the noco10, shut the hood with the charger still on. Locked the doors, something I usually don't do, and turned the heat up in my garage from 55 to 65. The next morning it was successful.

So I'm not sure if it was the charger being on all night including when the update happened, or the extra heat.

There’s no rhyme or reason to the phantom updates. They generally disappear off within a restart or two (with a drive in between). Like get in, start up, phantom, go to the store, buy stuff, restart the truck, phantom usually gone.

I just noticed that. While I was at work it disappeared. No mention of the update succeeding or failing, like it was never there.

Fun! ?
