I guess what I was trying to get at, is how painfully slow FDRS is as compared to a properly functioning OTA system. Why can't FDRS work this quickly. My last APIM/ Sync update, 5 gigs as I understand completed in a 20 minute drive home from work. I don't need to tell you, but that update in FDRS after 20 minutes would have just completed the download to the laptop. Then make a usb, then hope it installs, then return the usb to the laptop. This could take an hour or two.... and with a cable connected directly to the vehicle. It's no wonder dealers don't want to get involved. So what is the difference between a truck that 6.8.0 downloads and installs without a hint of difficulty, and one that it doesn't?
Of course we really can't answer that question with any certainty, but there's gotta be one.
One thing for sure is that over a 3 year period of production, along with the vast number of variations in 1.5 million trucks, it's not as simple as an update for 1 million Samsung Galaxy S22's that basically are clones of each other.
Not being an apologist. But I am a bit amazed that ANY OTA update by Ford would or could go smoothly.
It brings the associated text and graphics for BC 1.2 that has been missing such as the lane change instructions and warnings. What's the 6.8.0 rush? What does it bring?
I've been waiting to see if it will update OTA as others have mentioned with past difficulties. I know both of us never could do that. Better than paying Ford another $50.Well, I am happy to say that I applied this update today with FDRS and it worked with the USB. No 6 hour long update this time around.
are you planning to apply 6.13 or 7.0 as well ?Well, I am happy to say that I applied this update today with FDRS and it worked with the USB. No 6 hour long update this time around.
As soon as they become available for me. There is some intel going around the Mach E forums that the roll-out of 7.0.0 has been put on hold. Nothing official from Ford, but that's the rumor based on inside info.are you planning to apply 6.13 or 7.0 as well ?
Any details on why 7.0 is on hold? Also, is 7.0 the update that enables BC 1.3? Any idea on when we can expect 1.3 on F150s?As soon as they become available for me. Will get it when we get it.Any details on why 7.0 is on hold? Also, is 7.0 the update that enables BC 1.3? Any idea on when we can expect 1.3 on F150s?
No, no idea why it is on hold. It will include BC 1.4......they are skipping over directly to that one.Any details on why 7.0 is on hold? Also, is 7.0 the update that enables BC 1.3? Any idea on when we can expect 1.3 on F150s?
Thank you for the explanation... I wasn't sure what stage the roll out is currently in.. If currently just the Mach E EAP is getting the update and even that is on hold, I guess updates to F150s is definitely NOT imminent! ?No, no idea why it is on hold. It will include BC 1.4......they are skipping over directly to that one.
For now, the only vehicles that got it were Mach E's in the early access program. This is done on purpose so if something goes wrong, then it is a small control group only that gets affected. As to when we will get it: Your guess is as good as mine. They have to fix whatever caused them to hold the roll-out and then release via the OTA process which we all know is not predictable.
Lol I don't even have Blue Cruise but I'm really rooting for you all to get 1.4 that lane changing thing is just to cool. ?I'm not sure why I should believe Bluecruise updates are NOT imminent?
There's so much more evidence that it is than it isn't.
Believe!
