It does go up and down with the rpm’s and something weird happened for the first time today.
When I came to a stop at the red light, the noise just stopped and I was waiting for it to come back when the light turned green and it never did. I usually have to restart the engine or put it into 4H for it to stop the noise.
When your RPM bounced the frequency of the noise didnt change. It is forward rotational.

My 2021 Platinum Powerboost had them while I waited for my special order 2022 KingRanch Powerboost to arrive.
I was pleasantly surprised (kinda shocked) to see it NOT have the pesky little critters!

The recent TSB for the Gen13 F150 IWE is to unplug them and cap the vacuum lines to keep dirt out. Literally eliminating their function! That lined up with the sudden elimination of them on my 2022.

Keep in mind this is for 4A transfer case equipped trucks.

Just got my truck in September and has around 3000Kms on it now. Just experienced this same issue past 2 mornings, loud hum and slight vibration that got louder with speed. Temperature here in Ontario is just getting cold and last 2 morning were around -5 Celsius. Noise occurred at same left turn at a light, 5 mins into my morning drive and lasted 20130 seconds at 45-50kmh.
I will monitor and track these events to take to dealer as they will never be able to replicate the issue I'm sure.

Mine does the same thing. I have not tried putting in 4x4. Have you taken it to the Dealer yet?

I have a 2023 2.7 4x4 the truck has less than 1000km and has done this twice. Both times were shortly after starting to drive and the temp was -1C. Last for maybe a min or two and went very suddenly. Driving straight both times.

I’ve been to three seperate dealers and have shared the video with the best example of the sound with pretty much every ford dealership in Southern Ontario and not a single one has ever heard of such an issue.

I declined to leave my truck with anyone since I know they’ll never find the problem. The noise happens only once a week or less. I went a week or two without anything at all but the past week I’ve had it every 2-3 days.

I’ll check back with you guys whenever I figure this shit out.

I just had a new kind of experience with this issue. I was on the highway doing just under 100 km/h and the noise came on.

It was louder and more intense than usual probably because I was at a higher speed but it only lasted for less than 10 seconds, and then it went away.
Before this happened I’ve already been using the truck for at least half an hour so it was already properly warmed up.

I’m starting to think it’s one of the engine parts activating itself for whatever purpose. Most likely something temperature related.

Just to keep this at the top of someones list, I have the same problem. 2023 5.0 XLT, just turned over 2k miles. This noise generally engages by itself on cold mornings on my inbound commute. I am almost always in 2WD/Normal mode. Quickly pressing the 4WD button stops it almost immediately, and then quickly back to 2WD before it engages fully.

Left it at my local dealer for over a week when I was out of town for work, but of course they found nothing. Their "expert chassis guy" supposedly inspected it from top to bottom. There are no codes associated or warning lights.

Thanks for the info. Kind of makes it harder to pin point since we have different engines but I’m starting to accept that it may be something normal and not bad for the engine. Too bad no one at Ford knows anything about it and they just leave us all hanging and stressed out.
I was really hoping to keep this truck u til it dies but I guess we’ll have to see if this noise leads to any negative long term affects.

Yes, it is frustrating. I also hope there are no long term effects. I came from a 2017 of almost identical configuration and it was solid as a rock. I have a long cross country trip planned for March of 2024 ( wisconsin to Utah and back again ) and It would be nice to have a little peace of mind before I leave - to at least know that nothign is going to blow up in the middle of Wyoming or something like that ;-)

Hopefully I’m right and it’s nothing bad but keep checking back here as I do for any revelations.
Have a nice and safe trip in March

To add a bit of information of my quest to find a solution, I have a good friend that is a long time Ford Certified mechanic at a dealer within about a hour drive of my home. I sent him my video of the sound, and he said they have been getting several complaints/reports of the same issue. He does not primarily work in driveline/4WD issues but talked with the individual that does and apparently there is a "transfer case module reprogram" that is either already being tested or coming soon. I am making an appointment to take mine in sometime after the holidays, but only when I can confirm that there is an actionable step to be taken.

So it does at least sound like it's on someone's radar somewhere.
