Getting a 2024 XL!

I first started looking at the 2023 super charged XL sleeper and the more I looked the 2024 the more I thought it was the way to go. Get the mod's first THEN the super charger. It won't take a lot to make it a great looking truck..
Side exhaust, tires and wheels, color matched bumper and mirror and tint will eliminate the 'work truck' look. Maybe just SVT badges.

The one thing I wasn’t sure if I’d regret getting with my 24 RCSB order as well. But I don’t have a use for 5/6 seats in a vehicle (I rarely have any passengers and usually only 1 when I do). I’d rather have the shorter wheelbase anyway.
I’m already planning some little upgrades once it comes in: leather steering wheel, adjustable lumbar support, carpet flooring, level and 33” AT tires.

People have told me to get a super cab or crew cab as well. I can't justify hauling around the extra weight, spending the extra $, adding the extra wheelbase, and wider turn radius. I have other vehicles to use when I need to haul people, but I am glad that other people have that option. It just saddens me that the options are so limited with a regular cab.

I had a 2023 on order when the 2024 was announced. I compared and the 2024 was $2000 less expensive than the 2023 that I had on order and came standard with many of the options that I wanted on the 2023 but did not order or wasn't available. I canceled my 2023 order and placed an order for a 2024 RCSB, 4X4, 5.0. I have a build date of 1/29/24.

I have made one change to my order since it was placed. I was reading my three year old grandson one of his favorite books a couple of weeks ago. It was one of The Little Blue Truck series of books. He said "Grampy you need a little blue truck". I made a trip to the dealership and was still able to change the color from carbonized grey to antimatter blue. I now have a Little Blue Truck on order.

Being an old hotrodder, I also daydream of 700 horsepower, but will probably just add the Ford Performance lowering kit and change the shocks and tires/wheels when the time comes. I would like to improve the handling, but still keep it a truck. I am thinking about a bed rug and a cab height cap.

Dale just about the same thoughts I had. But the real kicker was cost..I built a identical XL Super cab and single cab with the 5.0 and 3.73 locker 6 1/2' bed and the Super cab was $7,000.00 more..I'm not sure if extended warranty cost is the same but is probably a little more. No 36 gallon tank available for the single cab short bed but if it was I would check that box too. I was originally going Blue also but after much deliberation decided on Carbon Gray as I think it goes better with the XL black trim. If the 360 camera was a option for the XL maybe that too. If reasonable cost.
Dale did you check with Granger?? 4% BACK of invoice that is apox $37,000.00!! No dealership in Florida will probably match that. 4×4 option will add to that number and I don't know exactly what invoice will be..But YOU might want to check that. Especially if you are considering a extended warranty as Granger will sell you that fo fifty bucks over there cost. Florida won't let me do that. After all is said and done the XL single cab is well equipped and the PERFECT base for a modern sport truck (I.E. Lighting!) and no other brand in a lower trim single cab is as cheep or looks as cool.

Good luck, I'm really excited to see the 24 rcsb trucks. They're perfect in 103a and under 40k with 2wd. 3.73, lockers, LED headlights, big screen, nicer cluster. I really hope they keep the formula for 25 model year as I've decided that's my next ride. I want a performance vehicle but I can't see myself in something like a Mustang or Camaro.

Chili..Rouch's 705 hp 639 tq supercharger will absolutely be THE performance bargain in ANY brand or cab configuration truck in 2024..Period. and in fact better than the vast majority of performance cars. I think the weight of the single cab short bed is 4,100 lbs or maybe a little bit less. About the same as a HellCat! At less than 50 grand! I'm going with a hard tonneau cover like my 2006 SRT-10 Quad cab had with painted to match bumper and mirrors with side exhaust in front of the rear tire like the 2004 Lighting. I'm still thinking about tires and wheels but am leaning to 18" 9.5" maybe 10" wide rim's like the 2004 Lightning had. I absolutely want a fatter tire because I think it will give it a retro look but more importantly ride quality.
Things like leather seat covers, carpet, sound deadening tint ect ect.. might happen in 2025 but the basic truck in 2024.
I have yet to see quarter mile times in a single cab with the 5.0 and a locker with or without a supercharger but I feel my basic setup is good for 14's stock and possibly 12's with?? Anyway I'm sure on ramps and zero to 100 MPH will be a lot of fun lolol! I'm half tempted to leave it stock looking and have a bale of hay in the bed...

DITTO !!! I've owned trucks since my 1989 Ranger and they just fit my lifestyle. I was considering getting a "fun car" just to play with, but then looked around and saw the F-150 RCSB with the Coyote....it took me back to 2004 and my 04 Sonic Blue Lightning. Jackpot !!! A truck and hot rod rolled into one, and gets as good or better MPG's as my 2019 Ranger. I already have a small pile of goodies sitting in my living room impatiently waiting for installation. Still have a few things I'll buy once I get the truck including new wheels and tires. Summer wheels will be 20x9 with 275/55/20 and winter tires in 245/75/17 on the factory wheels---both are almost an exact size / speedometer match to the factory 265/70/17's. And a planned lowering of 2/4 to bring it down, but retain some of the practicality of a truck.

It’s not cheap! I hear you. I actually ended up in a brand new 2023 this past February because the market had flipped over backwards on itself just like how lake Ontario flips in late spring. My local dealer had about 4 used trucks on the lot, but just got a fresh delivery of brand new F-150s (they had like 40 new 2023’s on the lot).

I noticed a common theme with the used trucks too. They had 40,000+ miles on them, the asking prices were upper 30’s to low 40’s, and warranty was almost up. The interest rates I got quoted on used trucks were insane (8%). I could not pencil a deal. So I got quoted (5%) on new, not great but a 3% APR improvement and a warranty seemed like a better deal to me. The payment is higher than I would have liked, but at the end you have to weigh your interest expense, the warranty, and the residual value post loan. I just couldn’t make sense of the used ones, it was a bad deal no matter how I sliced it. New trucks were in excess and the dealer was ready to wheel and deal, used was in limited availability and they weren’t really budging on ask price. In the end I got my 2023 for close to what a used 2020 of the same spec would be after negotiating.

Going to be awesome. One thing with 18s is tire selection is more limited in the sizes you may want. (30-31")

We have all of the Little Blue Truck books. My little guy loves them.

Decision day today..I have decided on a 4×2 instead of a 4×4. I started a thread 'Do you REALLY NEED a 4×4' just to get some imput on what the community who actually owns and drives these cool trucks might say and in my set of circumstances a two wheel drive makes the most sense.
I just got off the phone with Marie at Granger to make absolutely sure if I can buy a Ford premium extended warranty at there greatly discounted price and I can!!!! I just absolutely love the phrase "Wet signature" because Florida has restrictions on online Warranty purchases. No dealership AT ALL will sell a factory Ford extended warranty for any discount. So January 4th I'll be sending Chip a $2,000.00 deposit to order my truck!!

Snakebitten I'm oh so tempted to start a build thread right now lolol! I can say it won't be long before the 'work truck' look will be long gone. First will be paint correction ceramic and PPF..Possibly even before I leave Iowa. Not doing it right away is a mistake I'm not going to make again. Unfortunately my physical condition will not allow me to do it myself in the dealership parking lot but I know if done by a Pro it will be so much easier to keep it looking fantastic for years to come. This will likely be my last new vehicle so that's the first thing I will do. Next will be a hard tonneau cover with painted to match mirrors and grille. Tires and wheels after that.
I'm not sure now what tires and wheels I'll choose..Ford factory take offs are probably the best bargain but I'm going to wait until late summer to make that decision. Same with any suspension mods and/or drop. I REALLY like the look my SRT-10 had with the hard tonneau cover and think the Ford will present well with it besides being a really practical mod for a single cab truck. Looking ahead for the interior sound insulation carpet tint of all things a CB radar detector and scanner..

I'm excited for sure! Funny I can picture the truck in my mind except for wheels and tires. I was just looking at a 'Under Cover' hard tonneau cover and except for the spoiler (wing) I had on the SRT-10 it looks very close. I think the Dodge was aluminum and did not have a lock. In all the years I had it it never leaked..but it took over a year before KathyJo would let me put her precious Gibson's in the back. In the end I believe it will be similar to the 2004 'Lightning' and my 2006 SRT-10 Viper truck. Not bad for a 'work truck' lolol! The forum here has been a remarkable resource to me. It's funny to me how it all started by a 7 minute 'Sleeper' video I run across on my phone. Before that I was very seriously considering a 1964 to 1967 Imperial convertible both for the cool factor, investment potential, and plain all out comfort and driving experience a ride like that would be. But my son bought a 1968 Nova SS in nice condition then dropped well over 6 grand just in simple things to make it reliable but STILL has had broken down 3 times in as many weeks from unforeseen issues with most recently the brakes locking up lolol! That one issue..reliability.. made me change my mind. Then I seen the Super Charged 2023 XL F-150 videos and that was all she wrote! I thought back to just how much I enjoyed my Viper truck and just how useful it was except for the 9-12 MPG's of premium gas.
But the 5.0 F-150 has much fewer downsides. Even super charged 20 plus MPG's is very possible and the stock 5.0 at 400 HP in a single cab short bed WILL perform well. Plus it looks great even bone stock. Snakebitten I had a severe case of 'Sticker Shock' looking at ANY new vehicle much less a decently equipped truck. Last time I bought anything was a new 2015 Honda Fit EX and as best as I remember it was around $22,000.00?? But now it has close to 100K and the premium extended warranty is close to ending. It worked really well for Kathy's and my needs at the time and remarkably would haul our back line (amp's, guitars, stands,harps and much more!) if we packed well. But I remembered the SRT-10 and how much I loved owing, driving something special..That is EXACTLY what I'm going to make this XL 'work truck' be and do.

I bought my RCSB 5.0 4x4 for the sole purpose of building an "Old School" modern Off-Road Monster!

But after letting my rice rocket speed demon buddy drive it... he nearly had me convinced to slam it and turn it into a "Mustang with a bed"!

It's really tempting, this fucking thing is FAST!

But I'm sticking to my guns.

Once my warranty is up, it's "balls to the wall" Off-Road insanity!
