Long story short i don't think i will be happy holding onto my truck for the long run. I have had thousands of dollars worth of stuff done to my Lariat. Do you think folks think it is fair for me to list my truck higher than private party value in attempts to minimize losses or? I have no plans whatsoever of trading in the truck because i know that'll be a TON of money lost lol. TIA!

The right buyer may appreciate the work done. You can always think about returning it to stock and selling the parts as well!

That's a damn nice truck. I don't like them leveled, but that's a personal preference thing. Yours looks particularly high in the front end, and it would be a major turn off if I was considering buying it.

Quality has gone down across the board. It's not just Ford. You might be making a poor decision by getting rid of it, and if you're considering another brand of half ton, you're really gonna miss that coyote.
The picture does make the lift height look small huh? It is a 6 inch lift kit though.

Selling a lifted truck in Texas, definitely yes, you can get more for it but not the same as you put in. Research the Houston market on FB market place, Autotrader, local dealer etc. that should give you a good idea on how to price it competitively.

In my opinion and past experiences you can never recoup what you have put in. You made the truck into what you enjoy, not everyone will like it. It may take a lot of effort to find the right buyer. You may want to reconsider hanging onto it for a while longer. Can I ask why you are getting rid of it?

As stated above, it will be difficult to recoup your money unfortunately. I have had many trucks and modified all of them to my liking, after losing hard on the first couple I started returning them to stock before selling/trading and had much better luck. I now don't do anything that can't be undone. I know you said you did the 6" lift and can't return to stock, you may end up just having to sit on it a little longer to find the right buyer.

It's kind of funny honestly, I plan to add my own touches to pretty much anything I drive but if I'm looking at buying basically anything with an engine I want it completely stock before I get my hands on it. Any mods are a big turnoff for me.

One step further - how sweet if the truck has never towed anything before you buy it ?

It's always a loss unless we have a pandemic V2 and the market goes nuts again. Depending on how long you have left to pay for it, it may be worth to hang onto it and just get another rig down the line. You never know though, have a number in your head that would convince you to sell and keep looking. Another option is to trade.

Put it up for sale privately and hope for the best. Who knows these things can go either way. With a little effort on your part by visiting and hanging around some area shops doing truck alterations may just bring in the right buyer. Around here several dealers have a remote alteration shop under another name that does all the customer requested MFG and non MFG parts alterations.

Good luck, been down this road and now onto the road of recovery and leaving the vehicle as close to stock as possible.

There are a couple of used dealer groups in TX that specialize in selling nice, lifted trucks and they in fact will pay you well for this sort of inventory. I know that there is a location in SA that offered me a very fair price for my previous lifted/ modified truck, and as I recall they had several locations in the state.

Just understand that 'well' is still wholesale, and maybe they add another $2.5K for a well-done lift where-as Carmax would ding you $5K instead.

I have this terrible affliction where I modify literally everything I buy, and I assure you that you are doing well to get 20 cents on the dollar on mods. It took me years to figure out that my 'perfect mods' were not at all what others wanted, even people that like modified stuff generally prefer their own modifications.

If you like your truck, your not going to do better without completely losing your ass so you might as well lean into it and personalize it more I always say. * warning this is known bad advice and I'd still do it!

This has been my experience too. It's like adding a pool in your backyard and expecting to get the money back. The new buyer will "love" the house and "hate" the pool to make you second guess the asking price. Meanwhile they love the pool :) I hate trying to sell things...

You are in Texas, the truck capital of the USA

The market and interest rates right now might have some impact on selling too....

You know I tried to sell my 2014 Jeep JK that I lifted, tires, wheels, bumpers, etc. to Carmax. They wouldn't buy it because it was modified from stock ?‍♂ Oddly they did appraise it so I had something to deal with at the dealership down the road though....
