Tesla Model X, 2021 F150 Lariat on order
Hey all. Placed an order a couple of weeks ago for an F150 Lariat PowerBoost 502. Beyond that, pretty bare bones with no max tow, spray in liner or other constrained items. Dealer hasn't supplied a VIN yet. Need it in July for a new trailer. Should I cancel my order and buy a stock truck off a lot? May not be exactly what I want but at least I'll be able to tow my new rig. WIth the chip supply and production slowdown announcement, can I really hope to see it in July? Thanks all for your thoughts.

You have a couple of options. Find something suitable now. Or, keep it coming and see about renting a truck to get the trailer if your order doesn't show in time.

I'd be surprised if you see your ordered truck in July.

I bought mine off the lot. I would not have ordered it as it was built. But, it is great and I am not waiting on it.

I disagree. Mine has an order date of Feb 24th and a Build date of April 5th. I expect to take delivery in early May. If you ordered recently, then you should be getting it by July.

Everyone loves an optimist. But, reality isn't showing that expectation will come true from many other posts I have seen.

I hope it does though :)

This is from a Post in the 4/5 build week thread. I am being optimistic but there is also reason for it.

I downloaded the order list, excluded Canada and averaged the time from build to delivery which turned out to be 26 days.

I hope you are correct but what's getting me worried is the news from yesterday on Ford building trucks without some chips and completing them later when they come in.

I’d get one off the lot. At least in my area of Metro Detroit there are plenty to choose from. Could be different for you but I’m sure you could find a suitable truck ready to go.

I ordered one on 2/10 it was built on 3/3 and delivered to California yesterday. That was a Lariat 501 Powerboost with Tow Tech with a spray in liner. Seems like it is hit or miss on which orders are delayed.

Best suggestion would be keep checking for a truck that meets what you want while you wait, if one shows up buy it. Otherwise wait for your order.

You might want to consult your dealer. I placed an order for my loaded PB Lariat in January, and still don't have a VIN yet. But when I inquired, my dealer told me that, based on their allocation provided by FoMoCo, my build was prioritized accordingly and is 'scheduled' for blend in early April and should be built/delivered by EOM April. So, it sounds like you have time on your side, and with your build config - might get some priority. Good luck!

I would not cancel until you find what you are looking for. It doesn’t take much to make your truck unique. You should be able to cancel and get your deposit back but find what you want first. From a guy that doesn’t have his truck and when it does arrive it will be 7 months

Our trucks were built at the same time and mine arrived 2/17 and I was still annoyed how long it took just because I was anxious.

I feel absolutely terrible for you. I can’t even imagine if I still hadn’t got my truck.

Good advice. I will continue to check inventory... That being said, I spent a lot of time on Ford's web site and the stock trucks tend to be all optioned the same. A Lariat PowerBoost will invariably have the moonroof, power tail gate, etc. All things that reduce payload which I'm trying to keep above 1500, which my ordered build should bring me.

For payload comparison, my 502a PowerBoost is 1399 and I have moonroof, power running boards, power tailgate, and spray in liner.
