Shop 'til you drop, if you must. But don't overlook the notion of renting a tow vehicle if, in fact, the July camping adventure is locked in and must be honored.
Thanks for your advice Jack. Renting is a good option and will be my last line of defence if the order does not come in on time and I can’t find a suitable alternate truck in stock.

Get a regular 3.5 ecoboost instead of the powerboost and get it off the lot. That should keep your payload intact
You are correct. The PowerBoost option reduces payload quite a bit. Over 270# I believe. I’ve seen some 3.5 Limiteds with roughly the same payload as the bare bones Lariat PB I‘m expecting. That’s tempting ‘cause I’d get a nicely outfitted truck but I‘m still drawn to the extra torque the hybrid brings along with the onboard generator.

Pretty sure even without the powerboost you can still get a 2kw pro power. Not as nice as the 7.2k but still something. Also the 3.5 ecoboost has a lot of torque as well. Plus much cheaper and easier to find.

I ordered in Ottawa on Jan 25 and it's getting built this week with an ETA of April 20. Where did you order it?

I'd say a mid May production date should get you your truck mid to late June - but it's wildly speculative at this point.

Yep, you can get a 2KW ProPower with the standard 3.5 engine. I’ve seen a few on lots. Options for my B plan.

Ordered in Montreal. Chose a dealer in the suburbs with a high volume hoping it would give me a better shot at getting it soon.

Did you hear anything from your dealer on the chip shortage delaying your delivery at all?

It was supposed to be here around now, so a good month later than what I was told at order time.

Size of dealer isn't a magic bullet, my dealer is smaller and it didn't penalize me. Large high-volume dealers have more allocation, sure, but also more orders. With the deals they made in Ontario on the 502A lease, some dealers had so many orders it took weeks for your truck to actually get an allocation and VIN.

For reference, I ordered on Jan 25 and got a VIN on Feb 11.

True that. All I know, the dealer I picked had decent stock levels on its lot (albeit mostly XLTs) and now talks about getting my March 10th order built in their April allocation. The other smaller dealer I talked to said it wouldn't get built until May at the earliest and only had a handful of units on hand. Not scientific by any means but that's how I concluded a larger volume place would improve my odds. Again, I don't know for sure. Just how I picked between two dealers that I felt good about.

I was going to order one to replace my 2019 lease coming up in 6 month and the dealer had a nice Lariat 502A with other options ready to go. They took the 2019 six month early and got my new one, the dealer was more then willing to work with me,

I ordered a 21 King Ranch on 2/18 with 4x4, Max Tow, 3.5 eco, Spray Bedliner, 360 Camera, Power Truck Mirrors, and 601A package, power tailgate, tailgate step, power running boards, and still have 1585# payload. The way to save payload is to leave off the moonroof and powerboost. The truck is now in production mode...

Sounds like it will be a nice truck. If you weren't willing to wait then why did you order? You may find one that you can put up with but it isn't what you really want. It's something someone else, dealer wanted! So o fly you can chose. I ordered and received mine, I am very happy about my choice. Only thing I'm concerned about is if it going to rust underneath. I did the ford undercoating, but time will tell.

I am willing to wait on my order. I didn't want to pay $2K for a chrome package, $1.5K for a hole in the roof that I would rarely use and $1K for an off road package that all together reduce the payload significantly.

Hey all. Placed an order a couple of weeks ago for an F150 Lariat PowerBoost 502. Beyond that, pretty bare bones with no max tow, spray in liner or other constrained items. Dealer hasn't supplied a VIN yet. Need it in July for a new trailer. Should I cancel my order and buy a stock truck off a lot? May not be exactly what I want but at least I'll be able to tow my new rig. WIth the chip supply and production slowdown announcement, can I really hope to see it in July? Thanks all for your thoughts.
I would keep your order and get what you want but I wouldn't count on a delivery day. I ordered in Sept. and finally had a build date in Feb. it shipped and was supposed to be delivered by yesterday but delivery day changed to second week of April. Atleast when it comes it will be what I wanted.

Tesla Model X, 2021 F150 Lariat on order
Hey all... An update. It’ll be a month a week from today since I placed my order. At the time and 10 days ago when we last spoke, my salesman said he still thought my truck should get built in April though he didn’t have a VIN or order number.

I plan on calling them to enquire when it’s officially been a month since I signed but... with the new two-week shutdown at Dearborn and the continued chip shortage issue, I’m loosing faith in getting my order in time for my new trailer in July (but more likely August). I also worry that the more I wait, the less interesting stock there will be on lots should my trailer be here but not the F150.

As stated above, it’s unlikely I’ll find a naked 502 PowerBoost like my build on a lot. Tempted to compromise and going for either of the following two I’ve seen in stock:

-3.5 EB Limited: No PowerBoost but roughly the same payload my ordered Lariat PB would give me. Upside here is getting all the gadgets.

-Fully tricked out Lariat PB: 190# less in payload which would require more careful loading on every trip but I’d have the PowerBoost extra humph and ProPower.

What would you all do?
