Your truck is on Sync 22192 and you have had 3.5.3 sent to you and fail twice. There is nothing wrong with your truck. As per usual, the problem lays with Ford's crappy OTA process.
Thanks for checking my VIN! What a pain. I have an appt Monday to drop off my truck. We will see how that goes I guess.

I've had my job 1 2021 truck in two different dealers this week for the OTA stuff. I believe my truck is on 2.xx, as per checking my vin by members here. Both dealers advised me there was nothing available for my truck and said there were no error codes and the APIM was working properly.

Later someone on the forum checked my vin and showed like 10-12 different modules that had pending updates. I suspect they told me "Everything was up to date" just because my apim didn't have a pending update. Seems like they don't care if you have anything to update, they don't feel like doing it.

I'm also seeing issues with user's bluetooth acts weird, or carplay disconnects frequently, just different issues on the newest update. So at this point i dont know if i want to keep pursuing these updates, or be happy with 2.xx that everything works properly. Full screen would be nice.

So do you think these 2021 OTA updates are failing because the battery voltage is not high enough? That would make sense as these batteries age they are not keeping voltage high enough between starts to pass the test to do an OTA update.
I’m not buying the battery theory as mine has never been a problem. Drive it quite often and never had any battery problems even after sitting for 2 weeks. Never was notified of an OTA or failure since 2.7.4. I would just like to at least be able to use the stickers as my primary reason for getting the truck was for towing.

After the dealer was able to update past the “stuck” version, I received a few updates and was able to get to 2.6. I received “POPA“ a couple weeks ago but not anything since.

I‘m about to write a letter to my state’s AG. While I would hope Ford would make the changes necessary to remedy the problems it may take this kind of pressure to actually get it right. In no way should the consumer need to subscribe to FDRS in order to get the vehicle’s features they pai

I'm usually an encourager to jumping in the FDRS pool. Not just for OTA updates that fail, but rather the wonderful updates for a 2021 (especially) that are never going to be sent to your truck as an OTA.

PCM updates, for example. A 2021 can gain substantial drivability polishing, if you will. :)

Having said all that though, since your truck successfully updated previously into the 3.5.X range, you might first try purchasing the battery charger recommended for FDRS updates, because you would need it anyway, and then just give your battery a nice low Amp overnight smart-charge.

You might be surprised to find those previous failed updates start flowing? :)
I'm guilty of being over-optimistic at times, but I think it's early to declare Ford is done with 2021 at the 3.5.X level.
Or put another way, I still believe that at some point soon somebody with a 2021 is going to post that they received a 4.x.x update.

And then there's going to be a collective sigh, followed closely with the predictable flood of posts regarding. :)
I hope your right...waiting is not one of my strong points..lol

It is possible that they didn't see an APIM update because certain updates have to be installed in a particular order. Chances are, had they updated your GWM, TCU, or IPC (if you are on 2.x.x), then an APIM update would have popped up afterwards.

is that right? Wow i didnt realize this. Thanks for pointing that out to me. I have 35,100 miles and i’d really appreciate the dealers to uodate anything at all possible before 36,000. I dont see why its such a big issue to support the very expensive truck i bought?

Warranty or not, Ford does not pay dealers for the hours upon hours it takes to perform module updates. That is the problem and that is why most people get the run-around or the infamous "your truck is up to date" line when it is not.

Does it make a difference if you have opened a case with Ford? My dealership told me they were putting in for $6k for the time they spent getting mine to accept the updates. They had the regional Ford engineer working on it as well.

You can try to get Ford involved. Some people have reported success once they escalate it. Most people, like me, opened a case with Ford and never heard back from them.

And when I say Ford, I mean Ford. Not the 19 year old kid that runs the @Ford Motor Company account trolling threads asking for people's VIN and local dealer and then doing nothing about it. I am still waiting for them to "help me" from when I gave them my VIN 8 months ago before I decided to forego the BS and bought a Mongoose. My only regret about getting a Mongoose is having to pay Ford $50 for access to FDRS to update my truck. It is like I am rewarding them for their short-comings by giving them money to self-install features that I already paid for when I bought my truck.

No wonder Ford doesn't want to just let the dealerships have at it. ?

Labor rates at the dealer I work at are $300 an hour. It took me 13 hours to update my truck back in September, and another 4 hours to do 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 a few weeks back. That's $5,100 to go from 2.7.3 to 3.5.4 and all the other modules you can't update OTA. Also, that was me working diligently and not wasting any time.

I work at a JLR dealer now. Even then, I am in sales....I am not a tech. Being an Android user, I can't say I am very familiar with your issue, but I can tell you the connectivity is less than perfect with the Android product, too. I will get a chime that a text came in, but nothing shows on the touchscreen. Random glitching when streaming music where is cuts off for a second and then comes back on (this has gotten better after the latest Android Auto update my phone got). It will randomly disconnect from my phone completely from Android Auto, but bluetooth will still be connected. Audio delays in comparison to what I am seeing on my phone screen.

I can't wait until I have the time to install my Naviks HDMI interface and have everything just work.
