I've been trying to scan this thread to figure out how to add the door lightning. Do I need to take off the entire door panels to access the lighting harness? Saw a video one how to take off the entire panels, but wondering if there was a different/better/quicker way to install?

I used a bungee to hold the door panel up and out, but I did not remove it completely. I hooked the bungee on the grab bar inside the door frame.

Basically, you’ll take the screws out, and then just lift up and out /a way, **have a bungee ready to hang it and hold it for you.
I thought it was pretty simple, just to leave it on the door, halfway leaning outward, to access the two ambient lighting fixtures, and then reverse installation -otherwise you have to take the cables lose that actuates the door handle and lock. I didn’t want to do any of that.

Anyone suggest a collage course to take to remove the damn clips, now that the first one is busted in 3 ways and still connected?!

Destroying my damn truck to put in lights Ford should have left in. I recommend removing these bolts with socket wrench by hand, not a cordless drill…

It’s been stated multiple times through the thread not to use power tools on those bolts.

I’m sure it’s buried somewhere in 63 pages. Maybe we could help others with OCD and note that in the #3 on page one?

I’ll add it Monday when I’m at work along with the pictures of console disassembly from page 58, if it count for much people have still broken them using regular hand tools because Ford loves loctite. The bolts should be an M6 you can get them at a hardware store that sells metric

2 things:

1) I would use some vice grips to remove that bolt stud. You should just be able to lift up the center console and get some vice grips on them.

EDIT: channel locks might be easier

2) I might have a second one of those cables just laying around that I’ll give you for the cost of shipping. No promises, as I have to dig it up first, but if I have it and you want it it’s yours
