Alright dudes, mission accomplished. Will send pics of my solution. Shocker that my first major contribution to this forum coincides with my first colonoscopy tomorrow. ?

So I went for a physical solution rather than grounding the switch-- based on ease of access and inexperience with electrical.

1. Remove top of work surface. 1a. unclip "Ford" trim piece at rear of work surface to reveal two small torx screws holding a 3in metal strip that keeps the top on the track that the thing slides in.
2. Slide the work surface top off of the front.
3. This reveal the sensor switch on the driver's side. Figure out a way to keep it depressed (depressing indicates the surface is stowed). I used pipe cleaners.

@scuba How has your solution been working? I've been looking for a solution for a while! Thanks

It worked great for the few weeks I had used it. The truck has been in the shop for 3.5 months (that's 100 days) getting repaired, most of that time waiting on parts. No issues to report on the fix.

One of the latest updates for the APIM now makes it so the truck always defaults back to 3D heading up (I MUCH prefer 2D north up) every time I start it up. It also does not maintain zoom anymore, it automatically zooms back in after a set period of time or turns, I'm not sure

Are the any FORScan setting that allow me to default to 2D north up and maintain the zoom if I zoom it out?

IIRC somewhere in this fantastic thread there's discussion of FORScan options relating to what can be displayed on the 'side cards' of the 12" display in split-screen mode, but darned if I can find that here or on the spreadsheet. I'm sure I'm not using the correct search term for those 'side-card' views.

My specific goal is to allow display of the auxiliary rear-cam (accessory trailer-mounted rear cam) view on a side-card while also viewing navigation on the main part of the split screen display. I'll gladly forfeit another 'card' (e.g. 'fuel economy') to make room for the aux cam view if needed.

I can see the 'bed cam' view on a 'side card' but not the 'aux cam'. All of my cam views work 'at speed' as delivered from the factory without any FORScan mods.

Any tips or pointers to discussion on that topic would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The side cards are listed in the spreadsheet as IOD options. You can disable/enable anything you want, I don't think there's a limit as long as it's a supported option

Or, maybe to flip the question around, is there a way to enable usage of the IOD "side cards" (or whatever their official name is) when you've selected a camera display (aux camera or any other one)? I could see some real value in seeing some of these cards at the same time as one of the cameras.

Thanks, with that I found the applicable FORScan parameter options on the APIM tab.

Unfortunately is seems @antho is correct, the list of things which can be displayed as cards appears finite and the aux cam isn't among them that I can find .

Grrr, but so it goes, thanks for the tips.

At least it's possible to view the aux rear cam full-screen while also having nav turns displayed on the IPC and nav voice alerts active. That'll have to do, no worries. (y)

2021 Job 1 Truck. Completely up to date as of 11/2/2022 using FDRS (full screen AA, etc.).

I have been playing with the APIM settings trying to enable Trailer Hitching Assistance. From 2021 Job 2 owners manual......

Ford F-150 2021+ F-150 FORScan List / Database / Spreadsheet 1673299163140

Not that I really need it... but since Ford claims it is there I want it to work doggoneit. I have been experimenting with APIM settings and found an "Auto Hitch" bit to try... did not work:

I don't have Smart Hitch hardware so not trying to turn that on..... but recently test drove a 2023 Lariat and seeing it work... "I wants it."

Anyone else have this working on a job 1?

It appears to me only 3 addresses need to be updated for cameras at speed.

Just a heads up that those settings no longer worked to enable cameras in motion on my 2021 Job 1 501A. @Jesse-Infotainment provided me some settings that worked that are quite different than those in the Forscan spreadsheet.

Wait, so it is actually available on the '23 F150? Like, you set it and the truck drives itself back up to the trailer automatically, no driver input?

It seems like more often than not, the feature in FORscan is directly related to the proper feature name, so I would expect it to be at least (THA) if not fully listed as Trailer Hitching Assistance. Always exceptions, but I would think this (Autohitch) is something else.

Also, it could be a feature that will come OTA and the current modules just don't have the programming. I find that highly probable instead of just nuking the feature if it was already there.

It is available. Pushing the pro trailer button on my 2021 Plat results in a prompt to pick or create a trailer. On the new Lariat a push of the pro trailer button says wait while the SW looks for the trailer hitch. Sadly there wasn't a trailer hanging around the strip center I stopped in on my test drive... so I watched it search and eventually fail ... but given the different sequence I expect it would at least attempt to steer, shift, brake, etc. as advertised in the manual.

Nothing in the Forscan spreadsheet seemed to correlate.. checking IPC, IPMA and APIM. I pulled the Lariat vin and spent a lot of time comparing to my IPC, IPMA and APIM settings while I watched Georgia do its thing. I now have some suspects but more time/work is needed. Some of the differences were in addresses without maps.. or values outside the range listed in the spreadsheet.....

As to coming OTA... I was under the impression my fully FDRS updated 2021 had the same module microcode as the stuff coming off the line (at least 2022 stuff). I have added a lot of function since I took delivery Mar 2021. Example.... when delivered the truck couldn't recognize a trailer sticker.. had to use a $xxx part attached to the trailer. Took many months before Ford finally released SW to enable job 1s to bluecruise, recognize trailer stickers, cameras in motion, etc. And occasionally I did have to make Forsan changes to enable capabilities as my original Asbuilts were disabled because Ford delivered my truck with beta level SW.

I had been assuming "Trailer Hitching Assistance" was another 2021 capability that would show up some year. Since it hasn't and I am "up to date" I also assumed changing a bit somewhere would turn it on. Seeing it in action today jump started my deeper investigation.

Frankly I am a little miffed at Ford... that promised features and functions still don't work and it has been 2 YEARS since I ordered this beast. If someone has hitch assist working and want to share a VIN send me a PM. I would like to pull some other VINs to narrow the search ... seeing several VINs with this feature working would help isolate the changes needed.

Proof reading .. I sound very negative. Sorry. I do love the towing, generator, power, comfort, quiet, etc. and recognize I am lucky... I know many still don't even have Bluecruise! And that thought cycles me back to miffed at Ford... I am in a downward spiral!
