My OTA updates aren't working. It won't turn on. Pretty much hasn't worked since I owned the truck. My truck has been in and out of the shop since February 2022. The dealer finally said they were going to replace the APIM. That was over a month ago. Worldwide back order. My truck is a Job 1 truck.
Auto update won't turn on? Probably stuck on 1.7.1 which while not impossible, is more technical than just a regular APIM update. Many have done it on this forum with success if you want to head down that path.

I don't have the technical knowledge to do it.

^ i see you're messaging on a forum. you can clearly read, move a mouse, type, and make coherent replies. you've uploaded a profile picture, and edited profile details and even have a signature. you'd be alright clicking boxes in fdrs. the hardest piece is the hardware.

Regarding the Mongoose, it seems that most people use it once to get their software issues resolved and then just keep it around. It would be a good idea to post online that they have one for sale, maybe save the next guy some money.

All you need to do is load files onto a usb and put it in the truck.. drive until it decides to kick off and it will fix it I’ve done it for many people on here..

Hey Jesse,

Thanks for your help on here, been reading lots of your posts. Is it correct that the dealership can load the most recent version of OTA using FDRS?

I just booked an oil change at my local dealer and was thinking about asking them to do this (if it's correct lol)

THanks!

HI, I appreciate the comment. Yes it is true they can but they wont and even though they can doesnt mean you want them to. They typically make things worse than better. It is a lack of care, training or both.

The dealers will not do updates unless there is a reason you can point to and even then the update relating to that issue will be the only one done. To be fair the techs do not get paid to do updates. There is no warranty code to enter for that. Now if your truck had bluecruise capability then they would have a code to point to to do the updates pertaining only to BC>

Typically the only way to get it done is on your own.

Interesting! Yeah i'd rather not mess anything up. By fixing it yourself do you mean loading some files on a USB and popping it in one of the USB ports?

Are these files available on some kind of subscription like forscan?

Thanks!

Do I need FDRS? What else would I need?
Nothing more than a USB. I need your vin and provide the files. You load them to a USB and wait. Can take a month sometimes for the update to kick off but it will. Update takes about 15-20 mins. Then it will fix the update page
