I picked up a 3.5 ecoboost on 2/28. Has around 300 miles on it. I’m noticing when I’m barely on the throttle and between the 8th and 10th gear there is a shudder in the transmission. Almost like driving over a rumble strip but not as quite pronounced. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes, my 22 Lariat 2.7 liter, 10 speed also does that in any gear above 6th. Anyone have a solution?

Well mine has 2k miles now and still same shudder, has not gotten any better
Mine has 4, 000 miles on it and it is getting worse. I plan to take it to the dealer at 5,000 and see what they say.

Your adaptive shift tables were zeroed out. You're rebuilding those tables from scratch.
I definitely didn't get this bad of MPG when I first purchased the truck. Are you and Snakebitten implying the MPG should get better over time? As stated before I am absolutely not a mechanic so any technical info is always appreciated.

If the tables are cleared, then the truck will spend some amount of time populating those values and not necessarily being frugal at the same time. The Powerboost had a PCM update not long ago that resulted in the updated truck not even enabling EV mileage for a few key cycles/mileage. It freaked a few folks out. :)

Fortunately, the truck returned to operating as expected, once it had completed whatever was needed. Some folks don't believe in the so-called adaptive-learning features of these trucks. But there's mounting evidence that it's real and substantial.

I think when they’re first cleared it won’t even do the 1-3 shift so there’s def room for improvement. Is yours still doing the 1-3 shift

I took my truck in for the high speed shudder. They determined that it was the driveshaft. I have not taken it out on the highway yet to find out it was the driveshaft that is the cause. After they replaced the driveshaft, they test drove it and they said it is back to normal. I will find out tomorrow.
As I was checking out, I asked the advisor to check for the TSB 22-2224. He looked up and sure enough it said reprogramming of the PCM to correct high speed vibration when light throttle in gear 8, 9, 10. It was released June 9, so it is new.
Needless to say, he told me to drive the truck and to bring it back to perform this TSB if there is a hint of any high speed vibration.

Arghhhhhh
It takes so little effort to just update your pcm. The whole "if it ain't broke" mentality is legacy thinking with these new vehicles.

I know it sounds ridiculous, but would it be possible to “teach” the truck shifting 1-2-3 instead of skipping 2 by keeping it in the sport mode during the learning phase?

I dont really have a vibration"so to speak" ,but I do have an annoying roar/ resonationg sound between 45 and 60 mph. It seem s to be worse under very light accelaration. It definately a rotational noise similar to a bad u joint or wheel bearing going out. Anything above 65 mph it goes away. I took it in for service today and they told me that they couldnt hear it. I have a 2021 FX4 rcsw 5.0,3:73 and 10 speed automatic.Anybody have any suggesstion

I did exactly that on my second Powerboost. I decided to ignore the fuel mileage hit for doing so, but I put about the first 300 miles on it in Sport Mode.
It's anecdotal, of course, but I like how this transmission behaves better than my first Powerboost.
And I also can coax 2nd gear in Normal mode if I feed it just enough throttle from a start. It doesn't require anything aggressive, but it does require me to be increasing the throttle before it shifts out of first. I've just about perfected the technique. :)

Again, I can't prove that it's a result of my strategy early on, but I'm happy regardless.

Good to know. I’ll give it a try when my truck is finally here.

Never had a transmission that had to “learn” before, or at least that I noticed, until this truck. Either way mine is smooth now but goes 1,2,3 pretty much from day one. I only have like 350 miles on it and getting 20.1 mpg with the 3.5, 3.55, no highway.

Mines a skipper too. It shifts from 1 to 3 in nearly every drive mode. I have a 3.5TT w/3.55 gears and a locker. I have about 15k on it and I love it except for the skip shifting. When I pull out of work, I really have to be careful because my truck experiences a delay, like no power between 1st and 3rd. I've nearly got my ars rear ended and not because I cut someone off. Fortunately, my local dealer in Kent, OH does great work in the service department. I'm going to give them a call about the TSB mentioned above that I believe someone stated was released June 9th. I'll keep you posted. Best of luck everyone.

Yeah I don’t think I’m letting them near my truck if they can’t work out smooth operation and advertised fuel Econ.
