I am curious as to any of the owners smell a burnt carbon odor in the cabin when the truck is shuddering ? It is very similar to the the odor that was getting to the 5 gen Explorers cabin when you go WOT.
I drive in Eco mode a lot and it always shudders for me. I haven't tried it in Sport mode yet but a few other people say it doesn't shudder in that mode.

On my 2400 km trip, I tried every mode for 2 hours at a time, no difference. Dealer called and admitted that the 3.5 engine cracks the porcelain on the plugs and is putting a new set of plugs in mine on Wednesday. He says it will be obvious when they pull the old ones if they are cracked. They have also ordered a torque converter to try if the plugs don't fix it.

I don't even know what to say now. I specifically asked if the "converter" she's referring to has to do with the shuddering and she said yes. I originally said I'll just take my truck until the part comes in because I thought it was related to the generator not working.
I asked for all the details so I can give them to the lemon law lawyer and this is what I got.
The manager drove my truck and admitted he felt it shuddering. Now the notes say vehicle is operating normally relating to the shudder and the "converter" was special ordered for the generator issue.

Please let us know if the spark plugs replacement fixes the issue. Thanks

My 2016 Ford Escape with a 2.0 EcoBoost would shudder like people are describing. I changed the plugs and gapped then at .028 and all was fine.

These turbo engines are not easy on plugs and at least on the Escape people were pulling the plugs out on very low mileage motors and was finding them gapped at .035 or higher from the factory. I have also bought oem plugs and found the gap to be quite off.

Could be a issue that is still occurring just a thought and not really that hard to check if you are at wit's end.

It’s amazing to me how many people have no problem with work arounds to make their brand new truck drive and shift correctly. They don’t allow it to shudder? The truck is on cruise control! We should have to lock out 8th-10th every time we are on the highway? Totally ridiculous. There are major issues with these trucks and shuddering is just one of these problems. All that think they are immune to issues keep your fingers and toes crossed!

I am having the same vibration/shudder issue with my 2022. Seems to be worse when approaching a hill with cruise control on than it does with it off. Talked to the dealership and they don’t have a clue where to start. What gives???

Just got my truck back from the dealership last night, they replaced #3 ignition coil, #3 sparkplug and reprogrammed with latest update. Truck drives perfectly fine now. No shuddering, in fact all gears are smooth as can be, better than new. Really happy with the outcome. fyi

This is amazing news! Do you have any idea how the dealership determined which coil was bad?

Did your truck have the CEL on?
Yes, flashing engine light came on after it started to shudder. When I called ford dealership, service guy asked if the engine light was on steady or was it flashing. When I told him it was flashing, he told me NOT to drive the truck and to have it towed to the dealership. Not sure why it was bad to drive with the light flashing vs having it on steady ? either way, I'm just happy truck is better than new now. I've heard of people saying gears, axles and torque converter being replaced without any resolution in many messages on here. I have yet to hear anything about misfire issues, which in my case was the issue as a result of the # 3 ignition coil/spark plug going bad and newest program being installed.

Your in for a long road. As far as I know there is no fix and ford really doesn’t care. I just got my truck back from the dealer for the 2nd visit. It was there 2 weeks this time and they offered nothing. They opened the door twice in two weeks. This was after I took the service rep for a ride and was able to show him what I was talking about. He said he felt it and definitely was not normal. The truck would probably sit there for a month or more if I didn’t just go get it. They wouldn’t give me a loaner or rental. He tells me there’s no direction from Ford for the problem.

Flashing indicates misfire (which is not the same issue we’re seeing here). You never drive with a flashing engine light, as you’ll destroy the cats in short order, which are quite expensive
