I would pick one and stick to it though. Dont be using different oils all the time.
Concur. I had a very odd thing happen when I did this a few years back...had an Accord V6 that I had run Mobil One on since birth. Decided to "try" a Pennzoil synth just for the hell of it, and my main seal to the tranny started leaking. Went back to M1 and it stopped and never leaked again into 200k+. It's not that there was something "wrong" with the Pennzoil, but I do think that the seals got "used" to a specific type of oil.

I think it has to do with different chemicals in different brands interacting. I am not going to get a chemical analysis of each oil to compare the different additives/chemicals, then research if any of these will be bad to "mix".

Just easier to stick with same brand.

I just bought 2 qts of motorcraft oil at advanced auto parts in case I need to add some oil (so far, 5.0 coyote with 3500 miles and no need to add anything). Can't see what's wrong with the original motorcraft oil, and since the dealer will do my oil changes (past that age), they're going to use motorcraft anyways. I honestly cannot see how someone can "feel" the engine is more lubricated with one type of oil over another.
You can definitely feel the difference if you switch to a high quality oil that’s not a myth at all. So far at least on my truck (5.0) it has felt the smoothest with shell rotella gas truck and amsoil. I am now sticking to amsoil. Believe me a few years ago I did not think oil would make a difference but you can definitely hear less engine noise by running higher quality oil. I ended up finding out when I switched over my 2012 Shelby gt500 to amsoil and the engine significantly quieted down (noisy engine) and same with my wife’s Lincoln MKC after changing over to pennzoil ultra platinum. The change was a bit less noticeable on my F150 but still there, I probably wouldn’t have an issue running any oil as long as I changed it every 5k miles or so but since I do the maintenance myself I don’t mind spending the extra dollars for the best oil for my specific engine. The same can be said for gasoline, many people don’t believe that gas makes a difference but after having a tuner I can log on my Shelby gt500 there was definitely a difference in which gas brands would make the engine ping and lose timing during pulls. I won’t worry about gas on my truck because it’s stock so doesn’t make much of a difference but my point is oil and gas quality is definitely a real thing and not a myth.

Hello everyone, I'm getting ready to do my first oil change on my 5.0L XLT 4x4. I'm at about 1,100 miles right now and just wanted to see what you guys recommended for oil brands? I have ran Amsoil before in the past on my GT500 and Ranger with great success but wanted to see what everyone else is running. Not trying to start an oil thread battle but I've never owned a vehicle with a coyote before and like to run the best since I do the oil changes myself and cost is cheap. I ran motorcraft full synthetic oil before in my shelby and could feel the difference when I switched to Amsoil, it was immediately quieter and felt way more lubricated so I'm wondering if that's also the case with the coyote motor or if any synthetic brand will suffice. Thanks for your input!
Just pick a quality oil and stick with it. Change @ 5k. And dont go using other weights than what is is the manual.

Good to go.

And what do people mean with "i had good luck" or "had great success" when talkin oil?

I mean it poured in ok? Didnt mysteriously disappear?

Unless you had oil analysed after each change and compared to other brands, not sure what you are talking about here.

I’m just asking if my specific engine runs better with a certain oil vs another. Coming from high performance vehicles believe or not they actually like certain oils vs others. But after using like 4 different brands on my truck so far I’m starting to see that it’s not as picky as other vehicles I’ve owned and haven’t noticed a difference expect for when I switched over to full synthetic.

Just curious......
Are you 540Ratblog convinced?

I fully admit that I use the QSFS for that reason. I previously used what this oil knocked off his #1 perch.

Since I don't leave oil in my motors long enough to be a concern, I only care about the anti-wear property. I'm stunned an oil that affordable tested so well.

Ain't easy to find in the 5 quart jug recently.

Ford "Recommends":
Full Synthetic 5w-30 that meets WSS-M2C961-A1
or for colder climates:
Full Synthetic 0w-30 that meets WSS-M2C963-A1

I will likely pour Pennzoil Ultra Platinum going forward.

Amsoil guys swear by the stuff.

I agree with @Mtnman1 here, pick a 5w-30 that meets spec and don’t go too long between intervals and it’ll run for a long long time.
