Looking to get my bed sprayed soon but the linex dealer near me is saying they won’t remove the bolts in the bed. They do say that they’ll remove all the other hardware to include the tailgate plate. Is spraying over the bolts in the bed going to be an issue? Should I expect any dealer to be willing to remove the bolts first? How did they deal with the bolts in the stock spray in?

You plan on removing the bed for some reason?

Have a 2018 XL with factory spray-in; everything got sprayed.
Have a 21 F150 that local Ford dealer did excellent job on spray-in and when I asked the said they don’t remove the bed bolts as bed bolts one-time-use parts. Don’t fret bed bolts.

The place I took mine to do LineX removed the bolts, I never asked them to do it.

I've seen this debated an a couple threads but not sure I see the need to remove the bed bolts. I have had the liner in my current truck for 7 years and never had an issue with it peeling, chipping, etc around the bolts YMMV. I think it looks odd to not do them.

I have had 4 trucks with spray in liner and never had the bed bolts removed. If you needed to remove the bolts at a later date, the spray in liner can be wire brushed off.

I had my Line-X done about a month ago and they took out the bed bolts as well. I am not sure that it's a big deal one way or the other.

I have always thought the bed bolts are single use only, I don't have the 2021 workshop manual, but the 2015 one says this:

“NOTE: The pickup bed bolts are one-time-use only. Install new bolts whenever the bolts are removed. Remove and discard the pickup bed bolts. Remove the pickup bed. Torque: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)”

Dealer removed (possibly replaced) my bolts when they did the spray-in. Glad they did because I had to remove 4 of them to install the BedSlide. The Bed Slide instructions (the ford specific no drill kit) came with new bolts.

can I ask the cost?
Mine was $650 for Premium level but I negotiated the dealer to pay for it. The bolts came out and are not coated with Line-X.

...look into Bullet Liner: W-a-y mo' better!
Ford F-150 Linex and bed bolts BulletLiner_logo My local installer did not spray the bolts and even sprayed the tailgate "around" the factory worksurface.
I'm very impressed.

I wouldn't want a spray in liner under the bolts. The liner is compressible and will allow bed movement...imagine putting a rubber washer under the bolt...same effect.

I had Rhino Lining in past trucks and never removed the bed bolts as they sprayed over them.

I switched to Line-X with my 2015 with Line-X I asked and they explained that to touch up the bolts after having to remove them for any reason is labor intensive, therefore they simply remove when they spray the Line-X and then retorque the bolts. This allows for easy removal and reinstall of bed bolts for life of truck.
