I checked out eBay until I found a reasonably priced bumper cover that had no dents. Couldn’t find one without scratches so had it painted. Think it cost me about $300 total. I installed it myself.

Just posted a link, you could go that route or buy from ford and have it painted.
Good find! I searched the part number on the tag in the picture. Can't find OEM part by the number. Seems they want to sell both pieces. I'll check with local dealer just to see if just half can be bought from ford.

Ford will only sell both sides. Be sitting down when they tell you the cost. Buy from eBay. Just make sure the part number is correct. I only considered listings that showed the part numbered sticker. That way you are cert that you have the correct sensor cutouts.

If you makes you feel any better, at least the bot didn't ask you for your VIN and dealer info so they can look into for you.
Like your avatar. Caught the Gorge shows. So sweet.

I have a different and possibly less popular opinion: your bumpers are sacrificial items. They are on the truck to absorb this kind of damage, and will inevitably do so. Driving and parking near other vehicles (or really anything) will result in this sort of damage at a finite and relatively predictable rate. The stock bumpers are exceptionally thin painted sheet steel held together, in the case of the rear bumper, by a piece of plastic.

My solution was to get big ugly pipe steel bumpers that I can "fix" with a rattle can in about 20 minutes. I also have plastic c-channel on the edges of my doors so that if they hit an object or another vehicle, the plastic protects both. I realize that this isn't everyone's aesthetic, and I like the way that the stock chrome/painted bumpers APPEAR, but I prefer the idea of being proactive vs expected wear and tear.

I will offer this as a thought experiment: say you get the offending driver to completely replace the bumper like new; how long before a similar episode happens again vs how long you expect to own the truck?

starting 2024 the damn rear bumper is now 1 piece!
My 2011 was one piece like many older trucks. It's a return to the classic form I suppose. ?‍♂
