I did things a bit differently — I added an extra switch on top of the bed light switch. When you press it, it closes the tailgate, so you don’t have to reach down or fumble around underneath to find the original switch.

For the foot-activated switch, I’m still working on a good mounting solution and figuring out the cleanest way to run the wiring since it needs constant 12V+. I’ve tested it with a temporary power source and it works. Now I’m designing a proper mount in CAD to prevent accidental triggering.
