I ordered a 2025 Platinum in late September 24. I was offered a couple thousand off of MSRP by the dealer. The delivery estimate is 4 - 6 months out, probably longer.
I just found out I will be eligible for Ford’s X-Plan in January 2025.
I’m wondering if I can apply the X-Plan price to my order and/or at the time of delivery even though I wasn’t eligible when I placed the order a month ago

Maybe?

You can ask, but remember X-Plan removes any chance of negotiating a lower price than what it offers.

yes, you can. However, orders done under AZX, at the time of ordering has the WAP removed (Wholesale Assistance Plan). assuming they still do this, the WAP was added to offset interest charges on stock units. On factory orders, it is/was assumed That the customer would take immediate possession, thus incurring no flooring charges. I’ve been out of the business for a decade, so I’m not sure if this is still applicable.

Thank you for the well thought out response. I was told by the salesman when I ordered the 2025 F150 that I could choose the price and incentives either when I ordered the truck a month ago or when it is delivered…..whichever is the best deal for me. We didn’t talk about X-Plan as I didn’t even know it existed.
It was subsequent to that I found out I will have x-plan eligibility in January 2025.
I have not talked to the salesman yet about my upcoming x-plan eligibility.
I’m trying to gauge my chances before approaching the dealership.

Yes you can “grandfather” price and APR/Lease rate protection, or take the current incentives, whichever works in your favour. My 2022 Tremor took a year (supply chain issues), and FIVE price increases by the time i took possession. MSRP had risen by $5000, so taking grandfathering was a no-brainer. 48m lease 3.99 Tremor only 2.99 all other F150s

I negotiated X plan pricing when I placed the order on my 22 Tremor that took 10 months for delivery. Price protection and X Plan had me at $67k on a $76k dollar MSRP. I would reach out to the dealer to verify they will apply X Plan pricing.

Before declaring x-plan see if you can negotiate a lower price. As a point of comparison I negotiated $62.5k on a $74.5k MSRP truck a few months ago.

correct because dealers are under no obligation to accept AZX Plan, Although on a factory order, they would be foolish not to do so, because it’s incremental business, and presents further opportunities in the business office. At the height of engine production here in Windsor, ON, (3.6 V6, 4.6/5.4/6.8 TMEP (truck modular engine plant), Ford/Cosworth Aluminum Plant), AZX represented more than 50% of dealer’s business, and while it was not permitted to solicit dealer business on the plant premises, Savy sales people, would set up coffee/donut tables outside the main gates and hand out business cards, and some dealers put a lot of effort into recruiting Ford employees/retirees.
When combined with ESP/Chemical/Insurance sales, Employee and retiree sales could be extremely lucrative. payroll deduction could also be marketed as a credit recovery tool for those employees that suffered through the dreadful early 80s and got into financial difficulties.
Those heady days, are no longer with us, But certainly, smart dealerships recognize the importance of employee programs.
With apologies for the long winded history lesson ?
