My 2021 had a PCM update showing when I scanned it last night. Also an ACM and DSP update. I ignored the PCM but did the other two.
If you 5.0 is like mine the FDRS PCM update will bring your F188 to MGM from the previous MGL this will be OK. The OTA PCM changes the F188 to XJE and that brings the wrench light on some 5.0 trucks.
Lol I didn't think you were going blow away your tune on the PCM

Mine is a 3.5tt. If it updates the strategy, it wipes my tune. I'm in no rush for this. I'll probably turn off auto-updates jic.

About an hour ago I noticed the icon on Sync notifying that an update had been downloaded. Sure enough there's an update scheduled to install at 6pm. (a few minutes from now)

But in the quest to get more information about the update, I found that I had received a successful OTA the day before yesterday.
It was 23-PU1113-UNX-DC
And I was clueless
How could I have not noticed a PCM update?

I'm getting too old.

It appears to have been a phantom notification? Because nothing happened and at around 6:15 I got in and started the truck.

Nothing new and the message regarding the 6pm install was gone.

Perhaps it was a lagging notification for the update on February 22?
This was what I got on Sync screen around 4pm

FordPass shows update for 2 nights ago though

Not sure what to think about it.

But that's not nearly as interesting as what popped up on the screen when I got to the RV and the truck connected to my Wi-Fi.

Sync does this randomly and I can't for the life of me trigger it intentionally.

That's an html web browser of the Asus router I have in the RV. In this case Sync is letting me see that the WAN connection is down.

Even more amazing is that the Sync screen is supporting touch screen and keyboard for the router web interface.

I log in and can browse the Asus management interface completely.

So strange.
I really wish one of the Sync/Forscan gurus could Crack the code for intentionally launching the browser in Sync.
Once I exit this layout in any way, I lose the ability to ever experience it again until it mysteriously is launched again when the truck connects to the Asus router.

So much potential!
But such a mysterious tease.

I've received maybe 4 phantom updates over the last month or two but none since the wrench light update. Let's just hope the fix gets rolled out soon since waiting is never fun when it comes to tech updates.

Fortunately for me, this update didn't trigger the wrench.
The good news is according to Ford, the wrench is bogus.
The bad news is that while you have a bogus wrench, you'd not likely be able to discern if you have a legitimate wrench in addition.

All I know is I’m tired of the annoying wrench burning a hole in my mind every time I drive. The official word from ford according to the dealer I visited was that it’s going to be addressed in an ota update

@Snakebitten I know how much you love PCM updates, and I hate to be the one to burst your bubble on this but 23-PU1113-UNX-DC is a TCU update not a PCM. :( It made only as built changes to the TCU, no software. It installed via wifi or cellular. It corrects cellular connectivity issues on some trucks were having this is why they also sent it via wifi.

Thanks for clarifying.
Why did I think it was a PCM update that was throwing the wrench light on some Coyotes?
I'm not keeping up with which update is doing what, obviously. Lol

Edit: I think I discovered the source of my confusion:

I received the OTA and then came to the forum and searched "23-PU1113-UNX-DC"

This thread was the first hit.
(It was referenced in a couple of posts)
And it was the PCM/wrench thread.
I jumped to conclusions. ?

This is the PCM, OTA 23-PU1009-SS-NS that's being sent all trucks and for most it's OK, but it causes the wrench light on some Coyote's but not all, Ford has gotten very confusing with the OTA numbering system, it would appear there moving away from the 3.x.x 6.x.x system.

23-PU1009-SS-NS first appeared on forum only for Powerboost trucks, now it is being sent to everyone. Makes me wonder if they sent PB files to all trucks by mistake. ?‍♂

I received this same update on my 22 5.0 and now I get the wrench icon telling me there’s an issue with my powertrain. Is this the same issue you all are getting?

I believe you described it exactly as it happens.
No panic though. According to Ford it is not negatively affecting the truck.

Nor will a dealership have a clue what to do to address it.
