I have numerous smaller repairs like this (yes I know small repair and $8K is also insane).I’m in Canada so damn this might take even longer. Four months is insane
I got lucky and my insurance approved all the repairs with a super high-end shop so I’m not worried about the work that will be done and they also gave me a rental for as long as I need it.I have numerous smaller repairs like this (yes I know small repair and $8K is also insane).
Anyway, never had parts issues like that, but given this might be your situation, make sure when they do the estimate to repair they tear it down in a way they can put it back together for you to drive for the 4 months, waiting on parts.
My experience has ALWAYS been, Insurance company low balls the repair cost, Collision Repair place tears it down and writes up a supplement that raises it 50% to 100% as they find other issues once they open it up.
The Dealers here in Florida do a Great job on Body work and Paint !!Both your fender and door will be replaced. I would go with whoever you trust to get the paint matched. I would personally have no problem with my dealer doing the work.
