I am looking at the Grabber’s mainly because they have a 275/70/18 in the standard load. I really want Wildpeaks because of the high praise they get but they don’t come in that size unless in an E rated tire. Has anyone had both of these tires and can give me some input? I don’t really want an E rated tire and I would prefer a the 275/70/18 size but could be persuaded if the Falkens were that much better. I guess my main priorities are wet weather grip and a pretty good highway ride. Not overly concerned with snow.

You came to the right place.... there is a ton of good information here and great folks, one of the best IMO.

Most owners opt for E rated because the style and/or size tire they want is only available in E. Others tow a lot and/or off-road and want the added sidewall strength in an E. However, your sacrifice ride quality, noise, handling, performance, etc. because of that stiffer sidewall and tire weight.... to each their own...

I had a set of Grabber A/TX, 275/60R20 SL on my previous 2020 F-150. Great tire IMO. Minor tire hum on the highway, balanced well, nice ride, handled well, good wet weather traction and acceleration, etc.

If you want a more aggressive look, Nitto makes an SL in their Ridge and Recon Grapplers. If you're not attached to the aggressive tread (aka quieter ride) look at the Conti Terrain Contact or Grabber APT (Conti owns General Tire now).

I was always that owner, nope, I need an E rated tire, why, I don't know, because I can air up to 80 PSI and carry a house even though my truck can't carry it

I vote for the Grabber A/TX SL.

Haha thanks so much for the write up. Yeah I’m kinda interested in the more aggressive look. Never had an aggressive tire and think it’s time (at least semi aggressive). Are E rated tires pretty comfortable to drive on if you air them down? I’m open to an E tire if it won’t be too harsh of a ride for my family to enjoy riding with me.

Like I mentioned, take a look at the Nitto too, they look aggressive. A lot of owners have them. A couple of months ago I was dealing with tire issues. Discount Tire went above and beyond to help me. Any way, I looked at the Wildpeaks then too for a while, but I was torn by the mixed reviews from owners.

I think my sarcasm confused you. An E rated tire doesn't require 80 PSI, most are 60/65 PSI max. I rolled with 40 PSI on my GT Grabber A/TX E on my 2022. I tried 30, 35, 40, 45 PSI. If the ride was better, I did not notice it. It still felt harsh over every little bump... highway expansion joints forget about it. Ever drive on I-10 in LA before they repaved ;)
I’m open to an E tire if it won’t be too harsh of a ride for my family to enjoy riding with me.
I'm probably being a little dramatic with E vs SL/XL. E tires have a purpose and lots of owners have them and swear by them. Get what you want!

Hope this helps!

I actually haven't loved my experience with the Grabbers in the wet. In light rain, at an intersection and making a 90 degree turn under light acceleration, I've had the whole tail end fly out on me a couple times. Full traction control on, Normal drive mode and I don't have a heavy foot with this truck.

I noticed this was when the roads weren't heavily saturated, but were greasy. Full wet has been OK, no issues there.

Love the look of the tires, nice aggressive tread and taller sidewall than the stock 275/65R18, but I've found the ride to be rougher and of course fuel economy took a slight hit.

I'm keeping my options open when these are toast. Don't know if I'll go back to a 275/65R18, maybe bump it up to 295/70R18 (Recon) or look for new 20" wheels and go from there.

I think I'm about talked out of the Grabber's thanks to yours and other's experieneces. I'd love to get the 295/70/18 Recons but I'm not sure how they perform in the wet either.

I have 275/65/18 SL Grabbers on my factory wheels and love them. They barely took any weight and the truck feels stable.

I also have Recon Grapplers on my RTR wheels. I had one tire that was out of round that took 14 weeks to replace using simple tire, and the new tire is in the red after road force balancing. I love to look and how quiet the nitto's are but I haven't had great luck with quality control.

Next tire I try will be the wildpeak's

Take a look at the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus also. I replaced my Grabber AT/X's with them and really like them. Great performance (including in bad weather, snow, etc), quieter, and a little better fuel economy.

Late to the party here, but they make a 285/65R18 SL Wildpeak. Its what I’m running for now. No issues, but they wont get replaced, just want something different.
