Dang, son! That's a quick car! Really cool build. Must sound like hell unleashed when that massive turbo spools up. Always loved those cars, from the day I had my ass handed to me by one back in '89 in my Mustang GT.

The GN was the most impressive car I ever witnessed launch off the line at New England Dragway.

It does have a unique sound I always liked. Pretty pissed off V6 lol!

Here is the car at Bradenton on Day 2 of Sick Week it was neutered to make a A to B pass this is without the exhaust with just a turn down.

This is a pass from Sick at the Rock with a full exhaust

You inspired me to go for a 24' enclosed when I saw you post this back in Feb 2024!
https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...ations-with-21-f150-3-5-eco.21948/post-430791

I have ~2800 miles so far towing my 24' enclosed with my '23 3.5 max tow Lariat. When I'm loaded for a race weekend with my s550 mustang, I'm right at 9600lbs (took it to CAT scales). I picked up a Weigh Safe WDH and recently added the HD RAS kit this year. The RAS took some of the porpoising out of the setup.

The entire rig is very compliant. Zero sway like the trailer is on a railroad track behind the truck. The only thing I wish I could get rid of is some 'truck suck' when passing a semi-truck or when one flies passed me. It's not terrible and easily correctable.

Overall average is 9.2mpg and mostly tow around 68mph and usually not faster than 72mph. Power is not an issue with the 3.5!

I doubt a tune would improve the MPGs at all to be honest, especially when towing. Load range E tires would for sure stabilize the ride more if that's what you're after. I put the stock Hankooks at there max 51psi in the rear when towing and put 40psi in the fronts. The truck does not feel floating at all, so not sure what load range E would gain other than make the unloaded ride stiff as hell. If it would get rid of the truck suck I might consider it.

That GN is sweet! We ran Sick on the Green a few weeks back!

Oh, I probably tow to 4 or 5 events a year and maybe a few test 'n tunes. So 350 days a year I don't really even need a truck let alone a Super Duty! I have zero plans to upgrade at this point. The F150 is my daily and drives so nice.

We have named my truck 'the half-ton hero' for putting in the work! :)

That is a badass GN you got there. Its pretty amazing the power and times those can put out with a turbo V6. I have a mustang that makes 700 rwhp and I've gotten walked a couple times by some GNs.

Nice job, a 24' is really an ideal size and an aluminum one would be no trouble at all for a F150 with only a WDH. Which IMO it a must for any truck even a 3/4 ton. It distributes the weight better and takes the load off the front axle of the truck making braking and handling all better. This 28' is a different animal, it has a LOT more tongue weight, is taller and much heavier. I looked at that RAS kit before and it looks like a nice set up.

The 3.5 is a beast for sure power and torques is never an issue and we typically roll at 70-72mph. Your mpg is really good, with my 2016 and an aluminum 24' I would see 8.5. With this 28' I think the best I have seen in 7.8 or so and most times it is 6.5 to 7. The truck suck and crosswinds are an issue for any enclosed trailer even my buddy's 3/4 ton Duramax which we use on occasion gets a little wiggle in it with that.

I agree as a daily I love the F150, I say all the time its a really nice SUV that I can make do cool truck shit too, lol!

I was supposed to be at Sick at the Green but we tore up the main bearings in the motor for a second time. It looks like the forged crank I have in it is not real happy about the job we are asking it to do. I am adding a mid-plate to it and freshing the motor with a new Crower Billet crank and even more bearing clearance so hopefully this will fix it.

For all my Mustang friends, I may join you. I have a Fox coupe we are condering building with a Stage 2 head Buick V6 on methanol. Pretty much the same combo Dave FIscus runs and has been cleaning up Ultra street with for the last few years.

Those LX Fox bodies are a great platform for a drag car. Lighter and more structurally sound in the aft end than GTs/hatchbacks. And they are the best looking one from that era, imo.

The problem with race engines that strung out (as you well know) is they aren't really meant to run too long between rebuilds. It's just too much on them, and you are definitely asking her to do a lot! That said, it comes with the game. That's what makes this hobby so fun...and expensive. There's always something to improve or fix. As long as you are safe, the rest should all be fun.

That Volvo in my original picture of this thread I built and raced in Targa Newfoundland in the Open class (unrestricted). It was pretty strung out but not in a drag car way. We ran it through 6-8 rally stages per day over 5 days/1500 miles total. It had a way bigger turbo than it should have had, a beefed up cam and head work, Megasquirt FI, MSD ign, an HD T-5 transmission and a Mustang GT driveshaft. But the bottom end was pretty much left stock at it's 7.5:1 compression. I left it like that so I could load up the boost, up to 21 psi at times. But that boost with a custom (ie: not well designed intake/fuel rail setup) kept blowing the fuel injectors out of the engine. It became quite dangerous with raw fuel spraying onto a hot engine mid-stage. But repairing it, troubleshooting, and tweaking over the course of that week was one of the best experiences of my life! My fuel injection computer failed on the last day due to water intrustion (we raced during a hurricane, lol), so we crossed the overall finish line on the trailer. But damn did she rip when she was on the boost!

One of my favorite shots, us pushing a 911 at the end of an 18 Km stage. I was on his ass the entire time to the point he screamed at me when the stage ended. Everyone was making fun of him because he was being chased by a Volvo wagon, lol. He had more power, but I was way better in the rain than he was.

Sweet fox! It's such a good platform to build from and so light!

My s550 is pretty heavy @ 4100lbs with me in it. It's got a Gen5 3.0 Whipple, e85, T56 Magnum with a bunch of supporting suspension mods. Car is a blast!

I knew the stock tires sucked but when they were falling apart when getting dismounted it was obvious they were under rated for what I was doing. With no air in the bags the truck tows solid no issues what so ever. I have to see how bad MPG gets dinged but so far it is worth it.

Plus they look cool!

Dakar09 love the 911! I really want to do more road racing it is an absolute blast and I enjoy it WAY more than drag racing that is for sure. Plus I am 20 minutes from Pitt Race. I have a pro-touring Ttype I have had on the track a few times. 200r4 is NOT happy though. I am building another car a 67 GS with a Buick V6 that is getting a T56. I has a completely custom chassis and suspension.

The 67 GS is an unfinished project I recently purchased and getting ready to completely redo.

Bad ass, that is a fun car. My buddy installed a Pro-charger on a 2021 and it is stupid fast and fun to drive on the street.

I've never raced in a Volvo.....but my dad has owned 15 or so over the years. I even had red 2 door 240 that my dad put some 5 spoke Turbo wheels on. That car was a clutch dumping, burnout machine........one wheel peel and all. I was a dumbass high schooler and sold it cheap, but I'd love to have something like that again for a project car. And old 240 wagon with an LS or K20 swap would be fun.

I've also been stuck behind a faster car with a slower driver. I upgraded the turbo and had the suspension dialed on my MK8 GTI and entered a time trial at MCM (at the Corvette museum in Kentucky). I ended up in the same class as some guys with C5/C6 Corvettes. After the first session one of them came up to me and said that he couldn't believe that I was hanging with him through the whole session. I let him know that I wasn't trying to crowd him, but I was working for a point by (first session had very restrictive rules). He wrinkled his brow and said something about turbos are cheating. I let him know that my turbo had less to do with it than my suspension and alignment setup. He was almost as fast as I was on the straights, but I was out braking and being slowed down by him in the corners quite a bit. I got a quick point by in the second session, caught his buddy in the C6 and did the same to him. I ended up nearly 5 seconds a lap faster than both of them, but proper brake pads, and RT660's helped compliment the 450 hp in my my GTI. It was a blast.

Nice cars in this thread, gentlemen.
