Recently noticed a whirring/buzzing sound (best way I can describe it) at around 7,000 miles on my ‘24 Raptor (3.5). I’ve attached a video for reference— not the loudest I've caught it so might have to turn up the volume a bit.
The sound occurs after accelerating from a stop, usually after being stationary for about 10 seconds or more. It seems to dissipate as the truck gets up to speed. The noise is noticeable even through music in the cabin and is louder when outside the truck. Sounds like it’s coming from the front-left underside.
This is my second Gen 3(.5), and I never experienced this in my first one.
Couple notes:
• Happens with or without the AC on
• Not affected by auto start/stop
• Occurs in both 2H and 4A
• I’ve even noticed it in reverse
For additional context, the AC compressor was replaced at 6,000 miles after it stopped blowing cold air. The truck was in the shop for over 20 days. Since then, I haven’t noticed any drivability issues, but the noise appeared after that repair.
Also, not sure if it’s related, but the serpentine belt squeaks like a hoopty after moderate rain.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Besides being a general annoyance, could this be a sign of a part failure? I’m not looking forward to another trip to the shop. . . hoping to be pointed in the right direction before bringing it in.
Thanks in advance.
