The bigger the wheel the less tire sidewall there is. This can reduce the "cushion" that a tire sidewall gives. This is great for racing where you are taking sharp turns at high speeds so you do not want any flex "cushion" in the tire, but do you race with this truck? You sacrifice some bump absorption with less sidewall for the gain in corner handling for higher speeds. Which one of these 2 options would you prefer?
Personally I like the 20" wheels better for the cushion and IMO they look better than the 22" anyway. Throw in the fact that they are $1300 less and there are a lot of other things you could spend that $1300 on. The 20" look great and the price is right.
22’s probably come with the CCD shocks , which limits any upgrade path in the suspension if your into that . Unless they changed the package the only way to avoid CCD was to get FX4 , which means no 22’s
Of course, wheel diameter is a personal preference. I like to stick with the 20s because I can have a taller sidewall than the 22s. That way, I don't have to be so careful about hitting potholes etc, and in my opinion if you have a 4x4, they look better as well.
22’s are worthless if you do anything truck duty. They suck towing, suck off road, suck for curbs, sucky ride. They suck at everything. I would swap my 20’s for the 18’s in a heartbeat.
22's look good, but you will sacrifice ride quality. The wife has a 2011 GMC Yukon Denali XL AWD with 20's and a 2023 Yukon Denali XL 4WD with 22's. Both have the factory MagnaRides on them. I cannot tell any difference in the rides between the two. I had MagnaRides on my 2010 CTS V and run them on my 2018 Z06. But MagnaRides are the best shock out there for both handling and ride quality. I stuck with 20" on both my 2021 F150 Lariat 2WD and 2023 F150 XLT 4WD. They both have the factory shocks. The 20's ride far better on my XLT.
Just depends on what you want. 22's will be slightlty more responsive, but that will only come out if you are racing or autocrossing your truck.
Love my 22s! Had 20s on previous f150 and didn’t notice a difference in ride. Granted the old truck had a smaller factory tire than the new 22s so the sideway was pretty close. 275/55r20 vs 275/50r22.
