I meant you no harm @powerboatr
You have to learn, or discern, when best to ignore me. ?

I assure you that I would not be offended, but rather I am quite used to it.
My children (grown) have perfected the strategy.

So the screen becomes like a big tablet. I was actually, trying to jog your memory with my first post, but your right if you could somehow get the ASUS to offer up a search engine that might get you passed thru to the internet?
That's what I'm thinking. If I could "embed" a link in the Asus admin utility somewhere, I could link it to a web page I put somewhere and that web page could have as many links as I choose.

Just for grins, I would love to get a screenshot of Sync4 browsing F150Gen14.com

I have read this now 4 times
1st read taxed my little Grey matter knowledge.
4th read has me wondering if I can get mine to do the trick as I get close to house
Our new fiber modem is very strong outside of my half a Faraday cage
Thanks bruce
Robert , Bruce is an IT guy if anyone can figure this out he will. We just have to wait for Snakebitten to figure this out for us and then we'll reap the benefits. :)

Does the ASUS have a USB port on it to access storage? Could you access that from the ASUS in the truck? Then load links to the internet on the USB storage drive and click on those from the truck.

Flattering. Thanks.

But I'm a very industry standard, inside-the-box, corporate data center kind of IT guy.

This stuff is as blackbox to me as it is to most folks. But there definitely are some wizards around here poking and probing.

Looks at you.
2 USB interfaces.
I use this specific router because it supports USB WAN. That allows an Android 5G phone to be a WAN interface for the Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN. Although I usually have a Samsung S20 with a USB Ethernet interface connected to the traditional Ethernet WAN interface on the Asus router.
I live really rural, in regards to internet service. As in zero terrestrial options.
But, I'm fortunate to be in an AT&T corridor where they actually do some R&D on a stretch of towers for several miles. (I've read)
I experience no inconveniences for internet service. No limits that I ever hit, and ample bandwidth for both my professional and private lifestyle.

Owner, IT Consulting\MSP company.

Coincidentally I own an IT Consulting firm... But that's neither here nor there...

Starlink has been a God send at our lake place, AT&T has 'okay' coverage and Verizon is nothing, of course I'm with Verizon.
I did point to point and it was crap.
Starlink is a solid 250\30, which is WAY more than I need for remote access and monitoring.
Should look into it if you keep getting dropped from your internet.

This is a very interesting discovery and something I will also have to investigate. Does the message that it is unavailable during motion completely block the view or just prevent the keyboard?

I run some amateur radios in my truck and am wondering if I could put one of my raspberry pis in there as an access point that I turn on when needed. If I have the truck hotspot enabled with the pi also connected to that could I that proxy requests to aprs maps or something else. Depending on the browser capabilities perhaps even use one of the web based review desktop setups to have a full raspberry pi on the display? Mostly I'm interested in being able to see a map with positions reported from APRS, AIS and ADSB.

Go to bottom of page, click the manual link. That will break out of the router URL to the full Asus website. Won't get you to the forum, but will get you to a live page.

Looks like 4.2.3 is the update I was thinking of last night. Added ability to connect to public WiFi. That often requires a login page, but who knows how long you can keep clicking on links once logged in. Appears to not be very limited from your experience so far.

You could override DNS for the Asus manual URL (uses subdomain) to point to IP of this website instead. If the resulting 404 has a link to home page then you are in. ?

Looks like the MachE guys figured this out in a similar way from the Sirius login page (which appears Ford has since patched out). They just keep clicking until they get to Google then from there you can go just about anywhere including YouTube and Netflix etc. Essentially the same thing Snakebitten and Fordtruckman are talking about.

There should be a video in the below post link.

that was what i thought when that update occurred, and i was mentally asking WHY if truck was already a HOT spot for phone and devices, what was this "new" change going to bring?
then Bruce harnesses his inner ADHD, like many many of us have in relation to our trucks and all the things that have been discovered and has discovered a new alice in wonderland easter egg .

i never understood why we didnt have a google or some other app to use for internet access without using a device on the sync screen. NOW the secret is out.

which brings me back to WHY this place is head and shoulders above the others in free range ideas, problem solving and sharing
i am concerned now if HAL discovers this new way to circumvent his control, we may be looking at a new world  ?
